Well, that's very true. I cannot comment on the Heritage  kit but, as for the other two, all I can say is that they make Mach 2 kits look easy.

Managed to get the intakes painted well enough to look decent, they are now closed up and I intend to fit them into the airframe later. Not much else has happened so far.

I would be very tempted by one of these nightmares ..I do enjoy a challenge and I do like the TSR2.

So I have managed to get some work done since my last actual build progress post. THe Exhaust parts have had their first coat of paint, so far they have only had primer on them.





Humbrol 53 was used although there will be lots of further paint application, mainly dry brushing to various degrees to finish them off. This is not the only build I have in progress, in the background you can see exhaust parts for the Reskit Jaguar exhausts, old Airfix Buccaneer, an Xtrakit Hunter T.7 and the Aerocraft Phantom FG.1 FGR.2 exhaust detail set all of which will get the same treatment other than the Buccaneer exhausts.





Both intakes have been assembled in the last week or so, today I made sure they fitted.





Which they do now I am putting the port intake into the port fuselage 

They are a tight fit to get through the opening in the fuselage so a little adjustment was required





I also ansured that the corner between fuselage and intake was adjusted slightly to ensure that the intake sit's correctly otherwise it may want to point at an angle away from the fuselage





I also took the opertunity to open the inside of the panel in front of the nose undercarriage bay which for some reason Airfix provided as a seperate panel. This however works to my advantage as I have opened up the plastic on the inside which will allow me to add nose weight later if I need to add more than I initially put into the airframe.





Painting of the ejector seats and the cockpit will hopefully start later today.

IIRC the airframe is long enough to get away without using any.  The only one I built (yet to finish) I never put any in and it's happy on it's nose gear.

I can't remember what I did with my previous one but it does give me the option if needed. This one will also get the very long Blue Water's hanging under the wings so that may be a need to add a bit.

The only one I had to put weigh in, was my big wing PR version, but that was more filler than plastic.  I had to put so much nose weight in (a big bolt) that I had to reinforce the main undercarriage.

Unlike its predecessor, the Canberra, which ALWAYS needs noseweight, a standard TSR2 doesn't need any at all.

But that undercarriage needs reinforcement even as standard. Airix's design need a little to be desired as the entire weight of the airframe is dependant on the strength of the main bogies' stub axles. It works much better if you cut down the axle so the wheel hun can be glued directly to the bogie side, then the glue area is much larger and the joint is in shear rather than bending.

When you say "big wing", would that be the big wing as featured on page 310 of Damien Burke's tome, by any chance?  If so - or remotely similar - would you have scaled it to 1/72, please?  I have a Master Plan to do a stand-off AEW version with a big wing, 3 x external fuel tanks and the fold-up antennae proposed for the Buccaneer (and as featured on Rolead's excellent Bucc on our stand over the weekend), and anything that will save me working it out for my self would be much appreciated! 

Well I've been looking for a TSR2 in 48th and hard to find isn't the words to use as their out there but from places with either stupid prices or stupid postage costs..even looked at 72nd and the results were pretty much the same.
Me is thinking this could turn into quite a mission.

Add Stratos 4 to your 1/72 search as the aircraft used in the cartoon is the TSR.2 with a few added bits to it so if you build as a TSR.2 you get a sprue of sci-fi rocketey bits into the bargain.

I take it that's the one with the Japanese anime cartoon drawings on it ?
If it is they do sell that here..its out of stock everywhere here of course ..so nothing different there and it sells for the lovely low price of $77 up .
I've seen advertised for $89 .99 nz.
