I had the M8 in 35th but looking at that pic the 48th looks far better and the figure looks even better.

News from Tamiya, it seems they have shrunk their 1/48 kit to 1/72:

Now what would that look like with Mustang wings?   

I scrolled a bit fast and the last pic I saw was of the M8 and I've been reading up recently on various attempts to attach wings to tanks.

Hannants have that listed at £99.99 on their website, £89 odd for pre-order. And people moan about the price of some 1/72 scale kits 

Still as I've said and do believe in "you pays your money" etc. Does look nice though

Any kit (or any product/service for that matter)  is worth only what  people are willing to pay for it.  If no one at all was prepared to pay nearly £100 for a while, I think that the price might start to drop.  That said, I agree with Chris that it looks tasty!

A fair chunk of that price could be down to the licensing fee from Lockheed Martin.

And anyone who is willing to pay the price deserves to be ripped off.

That's an absurd claim, Lee. Licensing fees are minimal. None of the aircraft manufacturers charge huge licensing fees. They're not like the railroads.

The size, the F-35 is larger than many people realize, and detail of the kit are driving the price. 

Anyhow, the list price is ¥10,700 about £57. ¥9,800 preorder, and the yen is currently still dropping against the $/£/€, so take it up with the importers.

It's almost always the importers, them and officialdom......

100 quid for a 72nd F-35 is nuts when here I can get the 48th scale one for $175nz and that's detailed to hell too.
That's a mental price guys ....we know how good Tamiya can be but are they that good ?

Phill, it is a 1/48 scale kit!

Given the detail, the size & the overall effect of inflation at the moment, I don't think it's that expensive for what it is.

Still not something I'm going to buy, though.
