Excellent news on both counts.

As for modelling, maybe a quick OOB cheap starter kit build is what you need?

I've tried that more than once, and still felt the need to do enough tweaking that they kept turning into 'mini-projects'!  :banghead:

Not in the General Scheme Of Things, as practice is always good; but as I was wanting something Shake'n'Bake, it didn't conform to the Job Specs...

Sunny, but cold as f... today, but I try to convince myself that it's just Gods way of telling me to get into that jolly jolly season feeling. Ah, well.. Christmas decorations are going up tomorrow, so maybe.
Otherwise loads of work this week, but also tremendous fun doing it. Actually it's been ages since I felt so motivated - and it's in my own little business - so I just try to tag along but at the same time watch out not to burn out. Things can go ugly fast if you don't watch out properly.

This evening, young Mr Pellson trotted up, bringing his entire StashTM of kits, namely a Mustang, a Hunter and a Canberra, wanting to discuss which to start first. Immediately giving priority to this important matter, I suggested he should go with the model he really wanted most to see built, or that he felt most connected with, from films, YouTube or games, and having mulled on that for a bit, he went for the Mustang as he's been flying that quite a bit in an online game. Good choice, methinks, as that connection hopefully will keep his mojo up, and so we decided to kick off tomorrow.

I'm really happy he took the initiative, and it'll be a nice time together.
And maybe, I'll get something done on the odd model myself when sharing a table with him.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Been installing electric advent candelabras in every window but the bedrooms where there's stars instead. It's amazing how many of these small light bulbs that go bust when they're lying flat in the storage during the rest of the year. I swear I checked all of them before storing them, and today, seven bulbs were dead. Incredibly annoying! Well - preparation is the foundation of victory, so obviously, I had some spares and now there's light in every window, as it should be. Also the final lighting issues after the renovations earlier this year were finally closed out, having the kit out (well, not THE Kit, but my tool kit.. ;) ) and that's a good thing to have off your back. And being almost there, the Mustang builder to be turned up, so having him prepare the kitchen table, I was able to close my toils and then move on to better things.
It's the Airfix P-51D/K kit, so nothing really to write home about, but we got started in good order, having him glue the seat to the cockpit floor before turning to painting the interior. Interestingly, he's improved a lot since we built together last time, and this without practice. Now, all interior plus the poor sod flying the damned thing is painted and ready to go, but for the flight helmet and gloves who, in the RSwAF at the time were chocolate brown while the flight suit was beige. But that's for tomorrow when we let Mr. Pilot off the sprue. The we'll likely start gluing for earnest as well.

And on my side? Well - I got to paint some dielectric panels on a very old Sea Vixen F.4 and added to that, reposition the wing tip ECM pods on my Danish Sabre. I never was really happy with how I got them on last time, but now, it feels better. Maybe I'll get to paint some RDAF green tomorrow.

But that's for then. Now, I'll get to sort some dinner while the prettier half is finalising the Christmas decorations allover the house. It's teamwork, you know!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

I hope to be able to engage in that process with my grandson in a few (5-ish?) years - he'll be 2 on the 8th December*.

My first two grandsons got Hobbyboss Spitfires from me when they were born.  Parents saw (possibly reluctantly) the amusing side of it.

My granddaughter is turning one so a couple more years to go on that end. She's getting really good at walking and cutting teeth!

I have about 3 boxes of kits set aside in the hope that young Wilfred (yes, that's his name) will become his grandfather's modelling padawan*.
