First of my SQGB entries, an RAF LTV Corsair GR.1 started (and not completed!) as a 2015 One Week GB entry.

See https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=40410.0

Did do a little bit of work on it following the 2015 1WGB but I think it's a worse condition now than it was nearly 9 years ago!

This is what it currently looks like.....

It's 1 December so time to start work to revive the Corsair.  Used Strip Magic by Deluxe Materials for the first time to get the old paint off the rear fuselage and upper wings.  One of the main u/c legs came off in the process but went straight into the supporting Bag of Bits.  Rather pleased with Strip Magic, not used it before.  Bought it at Telford to replace the Fairy Power Spray I usually use - it had been used up to actually clean an oven!  Mr Muscle oven cleaner is OK but I think not as good as Strip Magic.

Thought some more about the stores the build will carry.  Pretty much staying with the original plan but I'll go back to using the kit's drop tanks.  Had planned on something bigger from the spares box but they're too big for them to go with fuselage-mounted Sidewinders, and I want to keep the 'Winders.

Colour scheme.  My original idea all those years ago was wraparound Dark Green and Dark Sea Grey plus Jaguar squadron markings.  After the 1WGB was over I mulled over a grey Jaguar GR.3-style scheme.  The problem (to me at least) was working out how to adapt Jaguar squadron markings, which don't (to my eye) readily lend themselves to Corsairs.  It's simply a case of the two types looking very different - specifically the intake arrangements.

Earlier this week I thought an Op Granby/Desert Storm finish using Jaguar markings would do but didn't really relish the idea of all of that Desert Pink.  So back to the original DG/DSG scheme plus a little lateral thinking - use Tornado GR.1 squadron markings (after all, several Jag squadrons converted to the Tornado in the 1980s).

Need a bit of Jaguar timeline jiggery-pokery to allow Phimat and ALQ-101 carriage as originally envisaged and use 31 Sqn markings from Modeldecal sheet 77.

Pics to follow after more paint stripping and broken parts have been reattached

I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

And here was me thinking you were going to do a proper Corsair  ;)

I thought it was officially the SLUFF........................  ;D

You could look at some FGR.2 Phantom markings from the 70's as some were used as ground pounders before the Jaguar came into service. At least it gives you some shape/size options.

No, it's affectionately & unofficially the SLUF, because I don't think even the Australian military would make that acronym official.

I have a love of both the F4U & the Slow, Low Ugly F____r (both developed by the same company, it should be pointed out).
