Remember the backstory to my Beaver gunship recently? How Venezuela invaded the eastern region of Guyana?

I ripped it straight from the headlines before they were published!

See: Venezuela vs Guyana war threat.
Whatever.

They could need slightly more firepower than a Beaver gunship!  :o

I know that it's not something like NATO, but could Guyana ask for Commonwealth help? The British could do something like with a border dispute between Guatemala and Belize

Sounds like the US are already doing that. Their 'exercises' in the region have '.....nothing to do with Venezuelan incursions..................' Yeah, right...............

According to the BBC this morning Brazil is sending forces to its border with Venezuela.

I didn't consider the terrain and road access in my backstory. Apparently a land invasion requires Venezuela to go via Brazilian territory.

My story assumes Brazilian support for the invasion. In reality, Brazil doesn't.
Whatever.

Prince of Wales is off Florida, on air readiness training.  No air group though, unless the UK rents a few USMC F35s

When you haven't got very many in the first place, yes. Both the UK carriers have done that recently.

Not unknown for aircraft carriers to leave port and the squadrons to land on shortly after. In this case they had US F-35s, MV-22s, drones and several helicopter types flying off as well.

On the positive side 809 NAS have been reformed with F-35Bs this week. That gives the UK 2 F-35B squadrons and a training unit.
