Quote from: Weaver on November 29, 2023, 01:48:23 AMI voted for 1st GB of the 2024/2025 season.

1. All Narses' comments about theme GBs withering on the vine are valid.

2. Replacing the last 2023 GB means overturning something that people have already debated and voted for, and that seems disrespectful.

3. Making it the first GB of the next season means that everybody voting for 2024/2025 GBs knows what the score is before they start.

1.  Yes.

2,  Possibly.  But as I voter I don't feel disrespected.  This is important to me and I think it should be done next (I was going to point out that politicians do this all the time but realised how ridiculous it would be).

3.  Moving the 60's GB to the first GB of the next season means that everybody voting for 2024/2025 GBs knows what the score is before they start.

Yes. Your post went up while I was typing mine. I think both approaches are valid.

I think I thought you were disagreeing with me and got slightly shirty.  Sorry.  It happens this time of year as it gets busy at work and the great seasonal consumption machine gets into gear and up to speed.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I would have liked very much to be a part of anything that commemorates 2 remarkable creators of our hobby. I think it would be good to do anything that just shows we care, and that they will never be forgotten, be it a group build or whatever people feel is right. I unfortunately can't commit to anything as yet as moving house is looming.

Do what the majority wants. I might start my own soon anyway. There goes the finish what's on the bench rule I had made for myself.

The only problem in my experience with this, and I've not done any analysis of the numbers, is that they tend to "wither on the vine"......

As for "having it running in the background as an extra GB. We already have one of those running in the Shelf Queen GB, to add another one would simply overload the system and again one or the other, or both would "wither on the vine" as the enthusiasm for the next upcoming "normal" GB took off.

Chris

100%.  Totally agree that Theme builds wither, and we do not want to dilute the GB's in any way.  GB's should never overlap in any way.  The three 90 day GB's and the one week GB are aboiut perfect in my view.  We should not stray from that much.

I am supportive of a tribute builds, but best it be cycled in as a normal GB.

Or as previously mentioned, just make your own tribute build. That's one reason I need to finish my Fire Spotter project as it was inspired by one of Tophe's many drawings.

That's absolutely fine and members can hi-lite the fact that the build is a tribute to someone in the title

Well, the people have spoken, Chris.  You absolutely did the right thing proposing the 'In Memoriam' GB and seeking out the views of forum members on how best to proceed.

I think you should take heart from the fact that there's clear support for the 'In Memoriam' GB to be the first in the 2024-25 season.  That only leaves two more to be agreed upon.

I'll be supporting both it and the 1960's GB.

Right gentlemen, the people have spoken although only 25 of them which is slightly sad, but about normal for a vote of this type.

So I shall organise the In Memoriam GB as the first of the 2024/2025 season commencing 1st July 2024 and we shall move ahead with the 60's GB on the 1st March 2024.

Thank you to all those who voted and I'm sorry if you feel disappointed by the result, but such is democracy.

I've got plenty of kits to choose from that's for sure. Including Mustang and Lightning which seemed to be a couple of Tophe's favorites. I will need to look through his posts to see a good one to build.
