This is another vehicle well past its sell by date, and continually being updated to stay in useful service protecting the Uranium mines in central Africa. The original main gun was removed and replaced with a Rarden 30 mm auto cannon, purchased from the U.K, and fitted to 10 M24's during an update which included a newer and more reliable diesel engine, and better armamment.

Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Cheers, it should have been done last week but I was waiting for the gun barrels to arrive. I am not 100% convinced with the barrels as they are white metal, and very bendy.

You could have gone all Norwegian on it;

QuoteNM-116

In 1972, the Norwegian Army decided to retain 54 of their 123 M24 light tanks as reconnaissance vehicles after they were substantially rebuilt under the designation NM-116. It was calculated that the NM-116 rebuilding program cost only about a third as much as contemporary light tanks.

This program was managed by the firm Thune-Eureka. The American firm NAPCO developed an improved power pack based around the 6V53T diesel engine used in the M113 armored personnel carrier mated to an Allison MT-653 transmission. The original 75 mm Gun M6 L/39 was replaced with a French D-925 90 mm low pressure gun, with a co-axial 0.50-inch (12.7 mm) M2 heavy machine gun. The bow gunner position was eliminated in favor of ammunition stowage. A new fire-control system was installed, complete with a Simrad LV3 laser rangefinder. Norwegian firms also converted eight M24 light tanks into light armored recovery vehicles to support the NM-116. The NM-116 were retired from service in 1993

Or Anti-Personnel FLAK;

QuoteM19 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage

Developed from T65 40 mm GMC (anti-aircraft gun on extended M5 chassis). Lengthened M24 hull with engine moved to center, twin 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft guns mounted at hull rear (336 rounds). 904 were ordered in August 1944, but only 285 were completed by the end of the war

Still, the Rarden is a good choice, too. :thumbsup:

M19 was the base vehicle from which the M42 Duster was built on and turned into a far more successful machine.

A duster could be a useful piece of kit, it wouldn't be needed to be used against aircraft, but against vehicles, it could be quite devastating.

I hope your gun crew have fitted the anti-dust measures that we needed for the Rarden in Gulf War I, it can get pretty dusty in Central Africa.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Probably not knowing them, as a lot of the armour is operated by locally employed personel, who didn't really care  ;D  ;D

Sort of ... The M-42 was based on the M-41 Walker Bulldog.

The M42 is essentially an improved M19 turret on the M41's lower hull, with a new upper hull in between.
... I know all this and more ...

There's an affordable aftermarket resin/white metal conversion set from S&S Models (UK) for late Danish M41s in 1:72.

Makes me wonder if that turret with the extra storage cages/boxes would fit onto the compact M24 as a late update? There's also one in 1:35, but very expensive...

Worth a go Thomas. I have been looking at 1/72nd scale walker Bulldog kits and the ones I have found have been silly money for what they are.

Makes me wonder what sort of price differences there are for that Bulldog Chris when you consider how cheap the ol Tamiya 35th one is ..I scored a brand new one here for $22nz ...and that's a complete kit 👌
