The Lonewulf Sidetrack AEW conversion set has been very popular on this site so I thought I'd use it on the two seater Jaguar. Prices for the Buccaneer on eBay have gone a bit crazy and my pocket money doesn't stretch that far these days.

I'm using the Italeri 1/72 No.1470 Jaguar T.2 RAF Trainer for the donor model. The kit has extra parts for the GR.3 (update 1996) which I have attached.
This means that the twin guns are fitted with the GR.1 vertical tail fin, I have fitted the over wing missile pylons and tried to square off the wings for the Sidetrack antenna when the superglue arrives..
So far the parts fit really well, I thought that the Harrier T.10 was fiddly this is even smaller. The crew are in fancy dress as they attended a Star Wars convention.

The landing gear, engine air intakes and arrestor hook with Chaff dispensers are all glued in place. I've run out of glue,so it will be a good time for a clean up and some photos tomorrow.

In the latest rendering the Jaguar now has three AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming system pods, a pair of anti-radar missiles plus a of close range air-to-air missiles fitted to the wingtips. Two fuel tanks have been fitted to the upper wings and a air-to-air refuelling probe is carried on the port side.
Two taxi runs have been carried out with an open cockpit (I will fit the canopies after the painting). There's a deposit on the costumes but I think it will come out in the wash! ;D

A bit more work and some decals added, the Jowler was lent to the USNavy for sea trials hence the paint scheme. Due to my brushwork, weathering on some of the parts has occurred. The engines need painting and the guns need picking out, tyres need painting and the canopy fitted.

After the trials with the USNAVY, the Royal Navy became interested due to the retirement of the Harrier. The remaining Jaguar T.4s were upgraded for duties on board the Royal Navy's aircraft carriers.

All that gear on the Jaguar makes it look totally different.
I wonder how much runway it needs to lift it all - and to land.

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Well that particular model had sea trials on board one of the USNAVY aircraft carrier's. I suppose JATO or RATO packs would have been used for STOL, the Jowler does come with an arrestor hook. I think that the SEPCAT Jaguar was the first Anglo-French aircraft to be fitted with an arrestor hook and the first non-naval aircraft of the 1970s to be flown by the RAF to have one.
