This was staring at me from the shelf so I'm going to try and get her done for Friday.

Looks interesting! I'll be looking for those finished pics.

Now that I'm back from Telford I'm prepping for the next show. For me that's the London Model Show on Sunday 3rd December. Can't really avoid it as it is now my local show and the club have a table there  ;)
http://www.londonplasticmodellingshow.co.uk/  Haverstock School opposite Chalk Farm tube station.

I was thinking of booking a table and selling stuff again at Hanslope this Sunday but I'd need to sell at least £30 to cover the costs of the table and getting there. There's not really enough in my disposal box to make it work.
What I plan to do now is stick some under the table at Chalk Farm (see above) and see if I sell enough to pay for lunch  ;)  ;D

I need to repair the Scammell Pioneer as some of the etch fell off at Telford. The Hunter can be finished off now I've got the paint I needed.

Nick

So last night I didn't touch the Scammell or paint the Hunter. Instead I 'tidied' the desk by moving all the unwanted stuff to somewhere else in the room, so my older models are on my bookshelf. They really need to go into my display case but to get into it I need to move the old magazines into the bookshelf but to get to those shelves I need to move the boxes of modelling junk but that means moving those into the spare room which is full of Christmas stuff...

I did start on the FROG Sea Venom which Dave gave me. A bit of flash on the sprues that cleaned off nicely and the kit is going together well. I think this was the part of the Russian era re-pops so no decals or instructions. Thankfully I found the instructions on Scalemates so I downloaded those for reference.

Still not sure what scheme this Sea Venom will wear. RAF, RAN, RN, RNZAF, French, Sweden and Swiss have been done. Iraq is an outside possibility. I think the Italian license build Fiat G.81 would be a good whiff, I could say that the Sea Venom was either a 2-seat trainer or that it's part of the Aviazione Navale flying from a donated ex-RN carrier (HMS Glory or Theseus) in the early 60s.

Very generous of you Nick  ;)

What might you be selling off at Haverstock, Nick?

I have booked myself into the Travelodge again for Telford 2024. It's a very reasonable £250 for 3 nights. The location suits me fine being 3 minutes walk to the restaurants and 8 minutes to the International Centre.

I went online and bought some resin last night. Expensive resin.  :-\
It should arrive in the shape of a Marksman AA turret which will go on the Matchbox Challenger tank in my stash. Like this: https://www.modelltrans.com/home/567-marksamn-aa-turret-conversion-for-m60.html

The website is a bit odd and old fashioned. Well, as much as websites can be as they've only been around for 30 years. The seller in Germany insists on using International Bank transfer and delivery via DHL. Goodness knows what the VAT and Customs handling fee will be.

FYI, while I was searching for Marksman Turret online I was directed to a model of a Iraqi T-72 carrying one. Dizzyfugu gets everywhere! https://www.flickr.com/photos/dizzyfugu/46408707552

Thanks! I have learnt that DHL will pay the costs up front and then get me to pay them before delivery. That is assuming the bank payment goes through.

Nick

Well, the payment went through OK but I doubt the resin will be sent before New Year. Oh well. Patience is a virtue.

Had a couple of letters from work this week. One was a very nice £50 gift card for all major shops as thanks for the work we did this year. The other was from the directors giving us a very helpful and generous pay rise.  ;D

Yesterday and today has seen me mostly shopping for all the last minute little bits needed for Christmas. Mum and I waded through Asda yesterday morning and it wasn't too busy. I went into Brentwood today to mooch around the shops for a few smaller items, mostly things for Mum for Christmas like a Puzzler and an Air Fryer Cooking magazine.
I'm sure she will appreciate her new can opener

An air fryer magazine ??  :o  Mind you if I was gifted an air fryer I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to use it...so ?  ;)

As for a can opener ? I haven't seen a can without a ring-pull in eons. Mind you there might be one somewhere in the darker recesses of the cupboards  ;D
