Ken I've been in more than the one battle tazi and yep they all suck in one way or another and you never expect anything with the 113 .. but anyone over 6ft tall is not gonna have a good time..no saying others are better like the FV432 ..same problem..Bradley's ain't bad and the Warrior is also quite good .
In full loud out we can't even fit thru the back doors of a BMP1 or 2  ;D
Money and bets were made and lost 😆

Meanwhile, the Corsair paint-stripping is done.  Some stubborn bits needed a couple of extra treatments plus some rubbing down.  It's good enough for government work (based upon the maxim that what the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't grieve).

Plasticard bulkhead fitted behind the bang seat (which has been temporarily removed to be tarted up a bit.

Made a start making chaff/flare dispensers that'll be scabbed on to the fuselage just behind the arrestor hook.

Phimat pod finished and fitted; plasticard replacements for the missing Paveway fins cut out and fitted.

Progress pics in due course, 🤞 next week.

Nice to feel some small progress is finally being made with a long-standing part build.

Some more chipping away at the SLUF.

Undercarriage legs and broken tailplane reattached.  The home-made AN/ALQ-101 has been finished off and attached; Paveway painting underway; a bit of cockpit combing detailing started.

Here we go, then.  A couple of general images with close-ups of the Phimat and the AN/ALQ-101 (the latter needs just a tad more gentle rubbing down).

Using Humbrol Aluminium (Hu56) as a primer - seems to work better for me than light grey - although I won't be using it in the u/c bays or engine intake.  These will use white from the off.

Do I see much larger wings and fin there Dave?

It does look very good............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Wheel painting underway, undercarriage bays painted white with probably some washes to add a bit of interest (at least as far as the main u/c bays are concerned), u/c doors and some small wedges of plastic sheet (representing chaff dispensers) fitted.

The kit seat has been given some attention and has been returned to the 'office'

Note the front end of the cockpit has recieved a bit of attention too, including a HUD display.

Been thinking about the 'GR.1' tag and at a loss as to where a recce fit would go to in order to earn the 'GR' designation.  Under the fuselage would be the optimum place (rather than a wing pod); I'm aware of the A-7's use of the Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance Pod System on a trials basis but development of that wouldn't fit with the Corsair being a Jaguar alternative, leaving Phantoms and Harriers filling that role pending the Tornado GR.1.  So I guess my RAF SLUF should more correctly be a GA.1.

EDIT: Humbrol Hu164 Dark Sea Grey base coat applied.

:banghead: repairs needed to the SLUF - dunno how it happened but it fell off its perch.  Canopy popped off and a tail plane parted company with the fuselage.  Tbh rather surprised no further damage.

Anyway, all fixed.  Frustrating given the current lack of modelling opportunities.

Meanwhile there's three candidates for my next SQGB entry.  The one I'm really tempted to do requires more work than either of the others; conversely I really would like to see the others done and out of the way.  Whichever, I've promised myself I'll not resume work on them until the Corsair is done.

"S.1" could also be an option?

Ooh, that's a good idea.

Always seen Jags were always 'attack' rather than 'strike' aircraft but no, they could carry a WE177.

So an 'A-7K' could be a 'Corsair S.1'.

I think it's pretty impressive so far considering it's an old Airfix mould. Just saying..
