All of a sudden I have got myself 3 F-8's one being an RF-8G, and a friend is sending me a 4th one. These aircraft have not really interested me modelling wise, until I saw that Sword were releasing 2 different versions of the RF-8. So, what scenario, and what armaments etc, for Fleet Air Arm versions, being sent to the Falklands conflict, instead of sea harriers? Their job will be to provide air superiority whils the sea Jaguars soften up the  enemy ground forces. Drop tanks being essential on the wing stations of course. I haveput a sparrow/skyflash missile uo to the lower aam rail, on the one I am building, and it doesn't look that out of place to be honest, so was thinking for one of them at least, a pair of sidewinders and a pair of skyflash, as they would have been in service, and the weight shouldn't be a problem, as the U.S Navy put zuni's on those pylons too. All ideas are welcome, cheers.

That would have given the opposition some pause for thought for sure!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I am thinking so too, especially as the enemies navy is put out of business ny Harpoon toting Sea Jaguars too. The Crusaders should be a worthy adversary to the mirage 3's and skyhawks, and air supremacy should be achieved quickly.

That would be much easier to achieve with proper carriers with some proper AEW aircraft to help the F-8's.

Iam thinking Gannet AEW, or for something more wiffy, a navallised Dommine, with roof mounted dome.

We would have had to have 'proper carriers' to operate the F-8s anyway.

Remember that aircraft elevators on RN carriers are your limiting factor.  If you're assuming (as I did for the backstory of my Corporate Buccs here) that at least Ark Royal is still in service, Grumman Tracers will fit on the lift.

This is WhiffWorld, Chris can have any size lifts he feels like.  ;D  ;D

I think a navalised dominee could work, I would have to put some demarkation on the wings to make them look like they fold perhaps. I was also considering having one as a tanker too, with a buddy pack on it, and removable fuel bladders plumbed into the hold.

I do like the Crusader in FAA colours, I have one in the stash, missing a canopy. Just need a 2 seat conversion set!

A 2 seat version would be a very nice addition , and would make a good strike aircraft.

There was a proposal for an navalised HS146 with folding wings and a radome from the E-2C. I have a stalled build of one.

I have a disc, and mounting frame from a dead E-2 that could well do the job, looks like I will be digging through the scrapyard at some stage.

If you had proper carriers with F-8s or better there probably would have never been the war. Meaningful deterrence and such.
Your plan still sounds good !!👍
