The BAC Nebulous FGR.1 was the first swing-wing aircraft to enter service with the Royal Air Force that had independent wings which could also operate in the forward position.



It could act as a semaphore if the comms systems had failed as demonstrated here.


A head-on view shows the small cross-section of the aircraft. Once the opposing pilot has worked out what this aircraft is, his missile lock warning buzzer is bleeping giving him seconds to make up his mind to engage or run away.


Diving is a great tactic as the Nebulous can hide in the ground clutter., licenced to fly at 25 feet!
