It would be a shame to miss this opportunity for completing some long-forgotten jobs.
This one started in 2016 and stopped very soon.

and the mandatory post with today's newspaper:

I hope this year will be long enough to omplete the build...

Good idea. To me the ThrustSSC always looked like a skinny Buccaneer, so this fits right in.

One problem would be that it would be top-heavy, I'd think.

Hmmmm... Could be true. I was thinking of using the upper engine only, the lower space for enough fuel for the 2 runs, and the brake parachute at the rear end.
I could exchange the positions.
Work has advanced, inspiration from the unlucky North American Eagle (based on the F-104).
I added the supports for the rear wheels

and, after a light primer coat, the struts (from an Italaerei, NOT Italeri, BR-20) and the axles for the wheels. Axles and wheels from an ancient Airfix Tiger...

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I'm pretty sure that a F-104 fuselage and engine was uses for a land speed record car and some dude used sidewinder missiles as boosters on another one .
This is just plain cool 😎 😄

I believe that was Darrel Greenemeyer. I'm sure the spelling is wrong.
I was wrong. Darryl Greenamyer
He built an F-104 out of sections from scrap yards and achieved a flying speed record.

That was the North American Eagle project, which unfortunately killed its woman driver in 2019, but she did break the Women's Land Speed Record in the process at almost 523 mph.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
