IIRC Darrel went after the AIR speed record in the 'Red Baron' Starfighter. That failed too, but he ejected as it couldn't land for some reason.

That Bearcat racer he had was about the only thing he didn't crash.

This is just plain cool 😎 😄

That was the North American Eagle project, which unfortunately killed its woman driver in 2019, but she did break the Women's Land Speed Record in the process at almost 523 mph.

You beat me to posting.  It's my original inspiration.

I worked with a Canadian AME who was a friend of Rick Kriege who died during Greenamyer's
Kee Bird fiasco. From what he told me the documentary didn't show the extent to which the
entire operation was a goat-rope.

The documentary was bad enough!

One thing you must never do building anything where a speed record is concerned is a half arsed job ..you will fail..no ifs or buts..total failure.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Back in the early days of jet powered LSR cars (when you could still build a contender in your shed) Walt (I think it was Walt not Art) Arfons bought his engines from scrap yards.
The air force were selling them as scrap metal when their hours were up and were decommissioning them by removing vital components.  However, because they were not consistent with which vital component they removed Arfons could put a working engine together from what he bought.
IIRC there is a story about him test running an engine he'd chained to a tree while goons in dark glasses kept an eye on him to see what he was up to.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Darryl Greenamyer
After a practice run for the altitude record attempt, he was unable to get a lock light on the left wheel. He determined that it was not safe to land.

I am at the painting stage, already done a first coat of gloss varnish.
But now, for the decals, there will be some wait.
I am using, obviously, the real LSR cars as inspiration, and will have to print the appropriate ones myself, so I will have to find the logos on internet, reduce to size, etc etc.
It it were a german contender, I could have added, for ex., a Beate Uhse logo, but I don't know an analog british chain.

The Sidewinder booster was used on the controversial Budweiser Rocket, a vehicle that claimed to have topped the then-standing LSR (from The Blue Flame, IIRC), but only over a very short and eventually illegal distance of just a few meters. Another issue was, IIC, that the vehicle had only three wheels and did not qualify as a car (unlike The Blue Flame, which had a similar layout but twin front wheels: very close to each other so that the thing looked like a tricycle, but fully legal).

The 'Winder is the small nozzle over the main reactor:

And the "ground-bound" F-104 was or is the "American Eagle", a really straightforward conversion:

Having read up on Beate Uhse, I'd say your nearest equivalent would be 'Ann Summers' or 'Honour'.  ;D  ;)

Hmmm... Thanks. Shame that Ann Summers' logo is quite nondescript. I Think I'll go for Honour.... ;)
