And probably an easier build  ;D

An odd looking aeroplane, but then anything with the Vulture always looks slightly "odd" to me for some reason

I've never built one of theirs but I understand it to be an "interesting" exercise

The Wooksta!

I've been cleaning up several with the intention of remoulding them*. His masters are good, the casting and the thinking behind how the parts are moulded is shockingly abysmal.
A perfect example is the Bv 237. The master of the wings has a chamfer so it fits the fuselage neatly.  So he puts a dirty great pouring lug right through it.  It makes for a harder piece to mould (tall and thin), whilst the poor deluded sod who bought this parcel of badly thought out and badly cast crap has to do work he shouldn't have had to do had the knacker who did the moulding taken even a second of time to think about the end user.
Me?   Web of plastic card along the leading edge, which makes for an easier piece to mould (yes, long and thin but with a wider base) and you only have a bit of sanding along the leading edge.

This is the approach I took with the Hawker P.1067 I did a few years back. The wing root is chamfered to fit the fuselage perfectly, so a thin strip of plastic card along the wing leading edge is the moulding point.  So much easier to mould and better for the end user.  One or two here have my P.1067 kit and I really want to see another built.

In fact, I'd say the quality of his casting has gone downhill markedly since the late 90s, as the greenish resin he was using then was easier to clean up and the surface quality was less bad then the stuff bought later.  The Bv P.211A I bought a few years back looked as though it had been painted with a toilet brush and then dropped in sand before the paint had dried before being moulded.

*For the record, these are the Bv 237 as well as several B&V projects - the P.178 wings, P.179 (I want to do the very similar P.177 which has a Jumo 213 rather than a BMW 801 and the fuselage boom is almost correct for a P.180 fighter with the aforementioned P.178 wings) and the P.211A.  All are for personal use, although a few may escape into the wild.

I consider myself duly warned re: unicraft

Anyhoo - am on the mainland for a few days and restricted to thinking and planning. The very kind Mr @TsrJoe passed me a couple of Novo Fairey Delta 2 kits and a Sea Hawk for whiffers and prototyping duties. One of the Deltas is being built straight as is so I can get properly acquainted with the shape and turn ideas over in what for the sake of argument I will call my mind.

Preliminary result - I took the sketch of the ER103C, dimensions and the side view available and tried to extrapolate a plan view. First draft below

Whether it turns into digital model and then a print remains to be seen. Mainly an exercise in trying to work out the proportions at the mo

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It is, looks like a conversion of the FD2 kit isn't on the cards as while the C is similarly laid out it is so much bigger

Probably the Gyron engine which had a length of 154 in (3.9 m) and a diameter of 46.25 in (1.175 m)

Round of applause for our winner! It is indeed a Gyron a la https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/fairey-er-103-fighters.3074/

Only thing big enough that was Brittish made at the time so quite easy to work out.

A light whiffing - real proposal that never got realised. I was making the Fairey Delta 2 straight from the box while I considered the fighter versions when this alternative called out to me from the Hypersonics, ramjets and missiles tome. Follow on from the Fairey Delta 2 fitting Napier NRJ.1 ramjets under the wings to give a hybrid propulsion aircraft capable of Mach 2

Hunter Matra pods?  The ones from the Airfix FGA9 are nice but the Revell ones are the best.

I couldn't swear to what kit they came from but Matra pods is correct - there were 4 altogether on a sprue in the spares box. Right scale width. I glued them back to back with a section of thick sprue in the middle to keep them aligned and firm then trimmed to length. Drilled out the front face and filed the profile down a bit to get more taper.

Weather has been wild here which has rather put off trips up to the workshop. Between flooding and low flying trees/sheds/bits thereof I have stuck to the dining room table and pulled things from the loft stash

To wit, a Hardened Aircraft Shelter I started last year and got sidetracked from. It had been lurking unpainted. Ideal model fodder at 1/72 in 3mm mdf a useful prototype in case the house blows down and I need to make it 1:1 scale.

Thanks, of course now the satisfaction of having gotten it done I'm left with a massive white elephant to find a home for
