Quote from: zenrat on January 19, 2024, 01:40:31 AMWhat's the Italeri 1/35 DUKW like?
I'd like a duck in that scale and there is a new Chinese moulded version (I Love Kit?) with a trailer but they want silly money in three figures for them.

Fred it's a pretty good kit profile wise and very long ..it's goes together nicely but here's the typical Italeri part..soft detail ..the wheels are terrible which are cheap to replace with resin AM ones ...the cockpit/drivers compartment is OK but not great ..what ever your strange Australian mind would come up with this it's a good basis for it . ;D
It will be far cheaper than the I Luv It kit even tho the I Luv It kit will be 10 times better .
Because the wheels are so crap went backwards with mine ...I got rid of the wheels and went to duce and a half wheels  which is what the DUKW is based on anyways ..to me it looked far better with the 8 in the back and the 2 up front .

Thanks mate.

nothing in the 2024 catalogue that kinda interests me, just mostly old reissues, except the 1/72 F-35C, that was also announced last year.

I'd love the 1/12 Lancia Stratos, but I'd never get around to it or have the space to display it.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Finished model should only be about 31cm long.

If it was 1/24th scale and affordable I'd be interested as the hull of Tank Girl's Mk.2 tank.

The Stratos has been released in 1/24th by several manufacters, in both rally and stradale versions. Italeri has an old kit they reissue fairly regularly,
Hasegawa's are very nice, the Fujimi has full detail
but the body shape is off - too wide. Tamiya have
the Group 5 Turbo which is occassionally reissued.
Also a variety of diecasts of variable quality and
accuracy, some very cheap.

IIRC the F-15E is a repop (shared with Revell at all?) - anyone familiar with it?

Yes, every now and then I go and have a nosy on Ebay. The one I want is the one with six headlights across the nose, since I suspect that's the inspiration for part of the Tank's look (the Spectrum pursuit vehicle lends bit of it's DNA too). I don't want a diecast because I need to chop it up fairly seriously.

The Wooksta!

Isn't the Italeri Stratos the old ESCI kit?  They had a range of 24th motors.  I got the BMW M1 a good 14 years back. Much better than the Airfix one I got later.

The Hasegawa Stratos kits all include the four lamp rally pod and the parts to build the car headlamps closed
or open. The basic sprues are all the same, specific differences being covered with additional parts.

The Hasegawa kit is hands down the best Stratos kit, and it has a one piece body.

The 1/24th Italeri kit is the old ESCI and it also has the rally light pod in all versions.

I still haven't gotten around to procure the 1:72 AMX - which is bordering on blasphemy considering how long I've been waiting for it to get kitted!! Embarrassing..  :banghead:

It looks a very nice kit in the flesh. Waiting for some Brazilian decals to come out for mine. Lots of whiff potential with it.
