Dear PR19 , and Zenrat , Kerick and Buzzbomb , thank you very much

That cutting and sanding needs only MUCH time and endurance, and a sharp eye...  Things i needed in my original work over 40 years so much .  But how much work would it be to do that conversion with sheet and putty ?

This is the absolut last part to close the tailwheel bay :

It is not absolut perfect , but enough 😜
The very old vintage files from my Grandfather and dad are the best tools for that . They are super sharp and give a amazing smooth result , i have used No sanding paper for the complete Work, only for the wing bases to get the perfect fit:

I bought the two kits each from 15-19€ , that is a good Investment for the fun .
And i have a good pair of 4 engine wings left to build another STRONG Ju188 , or maybe a He111 ?

AMAZING work there, MOST impressive.   :drink:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I made a construction of the props, i think this is the thing to come ..

Each blade around 8x12 mm , 12 pcs. per section .
It is just a short simulation , not 100% in measure ( but very near at the real size ) .

Front view of the first and the last rotator .

Later this evening i cutted the lines of the rotators and put a little bit black color in .

Next step is maybe building a tool from metal tubes to shape the blades with heat.
I think a 1" inch tube fits perfect into 1 1/8 inch tube , this could maybe solve the problem .

Wow. That's summing up what I'm thinking. So cool !

This caught me by surprise! I was thinking you were going to use the engines on the wings in the usual way. Will they be contra-rotating?

First idea was the system like a jet engine, plus a housing over it i think that is all the same direction ?   But with a cover you cant see the blades ...
And i found no way to build a good housing .

So i came to this ,  and i believe contra rotating is the right way  , what do you think ?

The various versions of the B-17 also had a Boeing factory Model 299 codes:
299B (YB-17, Y1B-17)
299F (Y1B-17A)
299M (B-17B, originally designated 299E)
299H (B-17C, B-17D)
299-O (B-17E/F/G, also shown as 299O)
299-Z (Two aircraft converted as testbeds, also shown as 299Z)
299AB (TWA B-17G conversion)

Perhaps Model 299XCD.  ;)

Thank you,  good idea with the test number .

Yesterday night i spend some hours more and started the blades. They need around 75 cm of cutted and shaped material (  30" )  .

I made the first step with a toaster , a bottle and a cardboard , than cut it in 8 mm lines and pre shaped the edges with a knife ,  went okay.

Impressive conversion work there - I think I would have given up and filled and sanded all the rivets off.

I agree, there's nothing like a good, sharp file. <_<

And thank you for the Toaster idea - much, much easier and safer than using other sources of heat for softening plastic for moulding!

Most certainly, this is looking amazing
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Impressve work indeed. And the tail propellers caught me absolutely off-guard. I would never have thought of this.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Yeah, I thought initially that it was a conventional (?!) rear-winged-but-still-Radial-powered-thingy.
