Does your C-46 have plastic or rubber tyres Mr. Pellson?

I bought one YEARS ago, and as usual haven't finished it yet, but it had rubber tyres (I think....) and they all turned to dust. :(

All of the "rubber tire" Williams Bros. kits I've owned or built have the option of the rubber tires
or styrene wheels and tires.

The styrene parts are moulded on the sprue with the fuselage halves and wing centre section.

The option is spelled out on the C-46 instructions:
https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/0/0/8/172008-54-instructions.pdf

I built the WB kit many moons ago and while a bit challenging it did go together OK and looked good.
With Valom's spotty track record whether or not it'll be better than the WB kit is the question.

PR19_Kit

That looks like the lid of the kit that I've got, but it's such a long time ago that I saw it I can't remember the styrene wheels option. I'll try and find it when I go home and check.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It'll probably take a lot longer to build  :-\

The work of John Amendola. John was a really nice guy with a
huge body of work encompassing automotive as well as aviation
subjects. He worked for Boeing for many years. His house and
studio were always fun to visit. John was associated with both of
our area model clubs before he and his wife moved to Utah to be
closer to the grandkids etc.

Ah right Jon. I always had a liking for Williams Bros kits as a kid, still do actually, when you could get them in the UK. They just looked a little bit classier, probably the boxing and the rest of the package.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

So happy I passed up that Aeroclub one for 30 notes at Bolton.  I've got one tucked away anyway, but I'll definitely have one of each of these.

Flown in one of them, AND I had to wind up the undercarriage too, the Cadets always do, and it's a ZILLION turns on the crank!

Just in time to wind it all the way back down again!  :banghead:

I always wondered why that a light weight electric motor driven gearbox wasn't hooked to landing gear like that instead of using a hand crank .
Save a ton of winding.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

I don't think the Anson had that much electric power to spare, and it's a 1930s period design remember.

I could see the Anson being powered by Lycoming or Continental engines, refurbished by a small company to produce modernised versions for the civil market.

Or even turbo-props? A la Jetstream maybe?

Well that's true.hows about upping the ratios then so it don't take a thousand cranks to getvthe gear up..some ppl really don't think well when it comes from designing to actually using.

Turbo props ??? Are ya sure the Anson would be ripped to bits 🤔 😅
Even a weak turboprop would be several times more powerful than the lawn mower engines on a Anson

Yea but the guys designing the systems worked on the basis that a) They weren't going to have to do it and b) Once in service it was only the enlisted plebs who would have to and in a training aircraft there's a few of them around

In seriousness though was each leg cranked up individually or were they both linked to a single crank handle ?
