Sure I'm not the first person to attempt this, but the A-6 has always been a huge favourite of mine, and once I'd got hold of one, I had to do something with it.

The Sea Eagles make it look that bit more authentic, I think, and came out really well.
I've also added two hardpoints to the outer wings, as per the A-6F Proposal too. I didn't feel up to modifying the engines though, as the kit was a bit of a mare to get on with, and almost had me reaching for a hammer at one point, aside from the fact it was so hard to find in the first place - although as soon as I was about halfway through with it, I found out about the Kinetic A-6...!

I wish I'd had a few more RN decals to put on her, and some decal fixer as well, since some of them have come away or silvered a bit after final varnishing, but it's all a learning process. I'm still pleased with the results!

Always thought the Intruder was a pug ugly aircraft, but it definately looks better in those colours

As for the silvering, it can happen no matter what you do sometimes and as you say its part of the learning process. Something you never stop doing

Now this is a very plausible one. Looks just right!
Congrats
The carpet monster took it!

Beramatt - your right it does look very comfortable in those RN colours. Nice work chap.

Great work, at gives me an idea. I've got a 1/72 Intruder and a 1/72 Prowler, just swap the tails around..

Yes that's it, a four seater Intruder and a two seater Prowler. I'm not sure if they used the name Prowler until the four seat version was built?

PR19_Kit

The Prowler always had four seats, the 'two seat' version was built for the US Marines in the 60s and was called the 'Electric Intruder'.

Around 10 years later Grumman built the 4 seat version, and the USN named it as the Prowler.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Nice build, swb. I do like the Intruder, but this model is a bit hard to swallow as it would mean no Buccaneer!

Thanks for all the comments, folks. Glad you liked the 'tin tadpole' in a Royal Navy disguise!

@Pyro - Yeah, I thought that was a downside too! I had so many RN decals lying around though, it would've been criminal not to do it. I almost did it as an Oz one though, as I've got some kangaroo roundels around too.
