Having had a rather annoying day, I took the opportunity to use the promotion as an excuse to comfort myself with a cake (mango mousse. Good stuff!).

Now - next door to the cake shop, there's a toy shop that, occasionally, carries the odd kit. Passing by, one cannot non take a peek, as one does, by his time, no kits that arose and bigger emotions, so I walked on, incidentally padding a rack with hot wheels toy cars. And found this:

Lovely car, that one, and I had a real one at a time. Raced it too. So I basically decided that there was a parking space left on my bookshelf, next to toy replicas of some of my other favourite cars through the years.

So here we are now. Not entirely a wasted day, apparently.

Is the one on the left a Matchbox Rover SD1?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Congratulations to Mrs P   They probably had thought about her as a future head of the HQSE facility whilst interviewing her, just came up quicker than they thought
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I know that's a Matchbox Rover 3500 on the left because I also have one! The blue one, my mind thinks it's a Metro but Google says it's an SD1. And it's RARE!

From left to right:
- Matchbox Rover 3500 (SD1) Vandenplas
- Corgi Junior Rover 3500 (SD1) Vitesse
- Hot Wheels Land Rover Discovery 2
- Hot Wheels Land Rover Defender 110
- Hot Wheels Alfa Romeo GTV6

Lovely cars, all of them. But I really should dust them off more often..

Changing the subject a bit - I received the lot of bits and bobs I procured via Evilbay the other day. As said in the stash expansion thread, the entire reason for the purchase was the inclusion of four BK90 glide bomblet dispensers and four Bofors M/70 rocket pods, all of them in 1/72 (what else) from Maestro Models.

Looking at the rocket pods, I was quite surprised of their size, initially even thinking that they were in 1/48. Despite having seen photos of them, both hanged under the Viggen and displayed in front of her, as in the pic below, for some reason, I just hadn't caught the size.

But suddenly having the opportunity to compare them, side by side, with the ubiquitous SNEB pods, they are outright ginormous!

From top to bottom:
- Maestro Bofors M/70 pod
- Fujimi SNEB pod (the RN variant)
- Airfix SNEB pod (the RAF variant)

Also, one should be aware that the top pod contains six (6) rockets, whereas the bottom one carries 19 rockets - but much smaller ones!
Well - this explains why the SAAB Sk60 never carried them..

A couple of rather busy days at work, yesterday travelling until late. Tomorrow is another day out and about, so no modelling. But there will be more days, and the kits aren't going anywhere. There is hope!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

A very efficient way to carry multiple large rockets without using a LOT of hardpoints (thinking Skyraider).

And there is always Hope.

Except the Rovers.  That's all natural "weathering"

The first three, certainly, they look like they've just completed the Paris-Dakar Rally!
