Quote from: zenrat on February 10, 2024, 02:29:29 AMThere's no place for tracks in the Star Wars universe.  You'd have to ether make it hover or give it legs.

Not at all.
There is a place for wheels, notably the HAVW A6 and HAVW A9 Juggernauts so, if there's a place for wheels, there's a place for tracks too I reckon!!
Where there's a WHIF, there's a way
Ya'll seem to have forgotten the Jawa's transports...those are on tracks ..also in Rouge One you had the TX-225 Occupier tank..tracked  ;D
👍 I admit to having forgotten both along with the TIE Crawler a k a the Century Tank.

Rogue One, Rouge One is a Makeup Wars film.
Every one of the films is a "made up "film. That's what defines them as Science FICTION or, Fantasy. The afore mentioned  (tracked) Jawa Sandcrawler features in the original Star Wars film. It also appeared in The Phantom Menace,Attack of the Clones and, The Rise of Skywalker. I respectfully submit once again that there IS a place in the S W "universe" for tracked vehicles! ;)

Makeup.  Not Made Up.

All this generated from an innocent little comment about legs and hovering.  Excellent.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Good innit!. Which in turn was generated by an innocent remark about tracked vehicles.....!

Talking of tracked vehicles in Star Wars...

The TX-225 hovertank seen in Rogue One is actually a well disguised Alvis Stormer flatbed APC.

Accoridng to Star Wars lore it comes in both tracked and hover variants.  ;)

When I first saw that M113 was my first thought but seeing the tracks then my mind changed..I couldn't quite place em but I didn't look that hard either admittedly  ;D
One of ghe Scorpion based vehicles would've been my next guess anyway..that's what they used ad the base for the Tiger in Fury for the close up filming work..don't want to mount cameras to a real Tiger now would we  <_<

Actually Scooter mate your right and wrong at ghe same time..to save the real Tiger from undo wear and tear they made a fake one for camera shots ..the driver sat like a foot of the ground at the front in the open air and there's a platform around the fiberglass upper hull so cameras and crew could work.
When you see 131 moving through the plowed field it's actually on a concrete path covered in mud ..even the camo paint was made in such away that you could remove it with no effort at all .
Every effort was made for 131 to help it live longer without any harm to the tank during filming.

At the Tank Museum there was a 5 minute video showing where the curator compared the various tank movies for accuracy. He mentions that the Tiger 131 interior mock up was slightly larger to enable the camera to fit inside.
He also commented on CGI - some modern films look superb while others look like poor video games!

Tank Museum have made a few videos on 'Making of Fury'. Here's the latest:

They always were pampered prima donnas, just like
the Panther and King Tiger. They had to be because of
their craptastic reliability.
