Mitsubishi F.1 RAF.

My 1/48 Mitsubishi F.1 of 6 Squadron RAF.

Apparently the Japanese were looking for a new trainer. They looked at the Jaguar T2, but after thinking it over for a while, they decided on building their own a/c due to logistics and cost. They came up with the Mitsubishi F.1 / T.2, which not surprisingly look remarkably similar to the Jaguar. It even had Rolls Royce / Turbomeca Adour engines.

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time.

Does look nice  :thumbsup:  Front end has a slight F.5 look about it from that angle
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

How can we tell it's NOT a Jaguar though?  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Very nice, and you beat me to it, sort of.  ;D I have the single and 2 seater versons, and both are going to be SEPECAT Cougar's. Back story being BAe had a host of things they could do to the Jaguar to improve it but couldn't do it to the actual aircraft as it was, so ended up redesigning the Jaguar an£d made a few subtle external modifications to the extent it was as good as a "new" aeroplane, so it got renamed Cougar.

That F1 looks really good to me! I have one half built in the drawer of doom. This could bring it out to the daylight again.

I believe the vertical stabiliser curving into the top of the fuselage is the easiest diagnostic, others may have a different part they go for.

The real reason the Japanese built the F.1/T.2 instead of the Jaguar was that SEPECAT were asking for too much money for the licencing rights.

Yep.  Wing plan is more Mirage F1 than Jaguar.

None of the above prevents it from being a very good build, well done  :thumbsup:

Interestingly, the Jaguar early prototypes had protruding splitter plates, as depicted on the Matchbox model.

As did the original Airfix 1/72 Jaguar (which also had a pointy nose).
