Quote from: zenrat on January 23, 2024, 03:53:39 AMSo what you are saying is that while use of the vehicle may have begun in the fifties or earlier and/or continued into the seventies and beyond, to be valid for entry into this GB it must be finished in a specification and scheme it bore between 31/12/1959 and 01/01/1970?
affirmative / yes

Now I'm wondering it it was possible to get the MBT-70 into service before 1970. Not sure if enough Handwavium exists in this universe.
Sure you could because if one wants to be accurate the 1960s - the seventh decade of the 20th century - started 01 January 1961 and ended 31 December 1970. There's never been a year Zero.
 ;)

It has been argued (not by me) that the sixties didn't really get going until 1964 with the Beatles and didn't finish until '73 with the oil crisis.

That would be a very Boomer biased pop-culture based sociological definition rather than calendrical or historical.

After all my tribulations in obtaining my Revell F-111C, I wondered whether the F-111 might be an eligible build for this one?

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I was almost MARRIED in 1964! One year later and I was!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Actually I got married, the first time, in Sept '65.

And I'm planning on getting a lot older, there's LOADS more kits still up in The Loft!

I've had a rummage in my spares boxes and came across a 1/32 Triang Frog Austin 1100 reg Frog 042.
I only have the bodyshell plus the fitted chrome plastic parts.
The underside

Is this allowed as I intend to add wheels and alter the bodywork, taking it from a 'toy' to a model of one of the prototypes with a bit of whiffery thrown in?

For clarification there's a similar model on eBay reg FROG 041, with a motor. Could be converted into a slot car.

It'd be possible, but far too heavy. Those FROG car kits were moulded from lead based styrene I reckon, it was SO thick and strong!  :o

The Airfix MG 100 made a much better slot car, they even sold it in that market at one stage, but only as a kit.

Your FROG 1100 would be good as a static model though.

I got the idea from looking at the Crayford four door saloon conversion into a split tailgate, Creech Motors used the MG GT tailgate for their Mystique.I'm not too sure if there was ever a three door hatchback but there was a three door estate, Morris Traveller and the Austin Countryman.
I don't know if the Morris Nomad was ever sold in the UK unless it was imported from Australia .
