As per the tittle , I got a mostly built F-8E from Lee(The Wookster) at the Bolton show, and it canopy is no more. I think its the Hasegawa model, Lee did say. I am in the U.K. Oh, and yes, it is a remote chance I know.
Cheers.

I have just looked at the Scalemates page for the F-8 in 1/72 and there are no after-market canopies unless you want to convert another F-8 to a two-seater then that conversion will provide the replacement.

I found the same Alistair, seems you can get a canopy for almost everything, except an F-8. :banghead:

Get the conversion set and a Crusader, add extra pylons and ECM pods and make either an ECM machine or a SAM Suppression bird with the two-seater. Saying that, the RN might have preferred a two-seater.

Are the conversion sets available in the UK Alistair?

I really din't know why I am looking at vacform conversion sets, as I won't build it. If I can't get a replacement canopy, I will use it for airbrush practice. Or airgun practice

The Wooksta!

The RN wanted the two seater, or at least it was proposed.  Airframes sent as kits to be finished by Shorts in Belfast with Spey engines and British avionics.

If Lee can remember which manufacturer it was I can provide a canopy. The worst case is that you have to pose the canopy open because it's the wrong manufacturer. I have Hasegawa, Esci and Heller kits so take your pick and I will see if I can order the Airmodel No 24 Kit which is the only conversion set available direct from Airmodel.

I think it was either Kangnam or Kitech and I got it around 2000.  Still have the box somewhere with a slowly rotting Scimitar project in it.

If it was the former, it was likely a copy of Hasegawa, as I did the Kangnam Vigilante and it was a Hasegawa clone.

Kangnam is the Revell version which is not a version I have. I will have to look at the boxings I have to see what I have/had planned for each before I can decide which one I am happy to send the canopy from. I may have to keep the windshield, I don't know how much of the canopy you get with the conversion set.

Didn't Falcon do the 2 seater F-8 as a vacform conversion, one of their multi-type kits all moulded on an A4 size sheet of styrene? They all came with canopies.

I really don't want to go anywhere near anything vacform Kit. I am bad enough with the canopies, god knows what a full on kit or conversion would end up looking like if I got my hands on it. :banghead:  :banghead:

Nope.  It was airmodel.

Chris, I have a spare 1/72 Hasegawa Crusader windscreen, but only the windscreen.  It's yours if you want it.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Hya Fred,
Many thanks for the offer, very much appreciated. I totally forgot to put a pending in this post, as Gondor has sent me a complete canopy in the post.
Hope you are and yours are well, oh, and the spiders seem to like living here in my new house. ;D
