The cockpit's as ready as it'll ever be, not that you could see much of it through the canopy.

I'll be gluing the two fuselage halves together tonight, with LOTS of tape!

Lots of assembly done now, but lots more to do. PSR has commenced :( but lots more of that to do as well I suspect.

Some of the bulkheads even fitted the shape of the fuselage, but not many. The others needed a LOT of filing to suit!

Hopefully the Presto stocks will suffice...

Seeing that kit I remember that there were serious plans to create a flying boat on the basis of the B-51, with several different planing bottom an hydrofoil designs.

Oooh thanks, I've not seen that before.

I question his assertion that the B-51 '...could have won the Korean War....' though. It was cancelled in 1952 and the war only lasted to the next year anyway. No way it could have been developed into a proper weapons system in that short length of time.

I'm pretty sure the Presto will suffice Thomas, many thanks as always.

Yes, there are pics of the flying boat and hydrofoil designs in the back of the book on the XB-51 I've just got. The forward engine pairs are re-mounted at the TOP of the hull though. It looks very different.

I imagined you didn't cause it was uploaded today, just a few hours before it came up on my feed.

I agree with what you say, Kit. Although it had potential, it also still had some important issues to solve.

Interesting watch, thanks for the link.
Probably about all I will see of the movie, too.
I hadn't realized Dr Marcus Welby was in the USAF before Civvie Street...  ;D

I've just remembered the Heinkel 287 also had cheek-mounted engines.
Though they hedged their bets and had wing-mounted ones as well.
And forward-swept wings.

IIRC there was a conversion from the He-177 in an old Airfix Annual...

Now, back to your normally-scheduled build...

In  this case, slooooooow.

That's what comes of having three projects going at the same time, the Master, the Cargomaster and the Ho 267. The latter is getting most of my time now as it's near being finished.

Nah, you're confusing Robert Young  with Lloyd Nolan, who played Dr. Morton Chegley on the TV show Julia, starring Diahann Carroll. Those clips are from the film Toward the Unknown, starring William Holden. Toward the Unknown

I was 15 when 'Julia' debuted on TV, and Diahann Carroll gave me... 'tingly' feelings.  ;D

Yeah, that's him!
Agree about Diahann Carroll...   ;D

LOTS of sanding on the Master today, having laid on the putty in profusion. It's not too bad actually, just a small amount on the seams, and a light sanding seem to do the job.

What I screwed up was one of the engines.  :banghead:

I'd shortened them both, a) to give larger intakes for the 'Avons' and b) similarly for the exhausts, but I managed to glue one of the engine halves together 'out of phase' so the panels lines don't line up any more. So I've PSR'd one half of that engine and I'll have to re-cut the panels, deep joy............ :(

I'm getting close to gluing the wings on now, a big step in any build.

still, it keeps us busy, if not even-tempered...  ;)

As well as having the Martin developed drag reducing 'torpedo' on top of the fin, they also incorporated the RAF's RWR system in the same fairing for the Masters.  ;D
