Study on Painted vs. Not B-17s.

Interesting and I can see the logic.

Posit that they did the testing *before* making the decision to delete the paint at the factory - or that a TO went out to paint them in the field.
So, a what-if B-17G in standard OD/NG in 1945.

As it would be faster.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Doubtful as the flight parameters are very different and the B-47 is flush-riveted.

His conclusions on fuel use are nonsense and based on the notion that every painted vs. unpainted B-17G
would have identical results to the specific test examples. There are far too many variables in play to make
a blanket claim of that sort. Especially in light of the fact that the unpainted aircraft would all be newer, be
cleaner and have engines with lower hours.
