The first new What-If for this year.

This one will be based on this old Airfix kit

This kit was a "used" one which I got from ebay many years ago. Hope that everything is ok and nothing is missing

The model will be a Luftwaffe He 177 LSP. I will tell more later what "LSP" stands for.

As the transparent parts of this model will not allow to see much of the interior of this plan (they are too thick), I will not enhance the interior it at all.

First part where i will do something are the cooler intakes. They are very basic. So I just made a simple placeholder to check the dimensions of the new part, the final one will then be printed with the resin printer

One of the bigger changes for the He 177 LSP will be the rudders, there will be more than one.

This is a first test print with the filament printer to see if the dimensions are right and how it looks, the final print will be made with the resin printer.

Continuing with the cockpit with is indeed very basic for those old kits.

These pilots looks very good , they don't make them this way today  :banghead:
It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep .
Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

Removing the original rudder. Unfortunately it looks as if the fuselage is a bit twisted, its a quite old kit.

As feared, quite some force is required to get it in shape. A lot of putty is required here. The orange printed part on top is for measurement only

I take it your Engineer is calibrating the various forces required to join the fuselage together ?  ;)

The He177 is only a slow running project currently as I am concentrating on the Reban space ship. But some more progress

More work has been don in the interior of the fuselage. But the tail gun will be removed, as I do not need it for the He 177 LSP.

Finally, some parts that are completed: The engines.

Something that can happen with used kits: One part is missing. One half of one of the flame extinguisher is missing (see lower part). So I guess I have to recreate and 3D print them

A bit more work on the "cockpit"

And what I feared before, the fuselage parts are in a not-so-good shape. Had to use quite some force to put them together. And now the old putty-and-sanding song will be played.

I think we all have our own "putty and sanding songs". Just wondering what your engineer's is ?

I concentrated on the wings now.

The new resin-printed cooler intake is added

Unfortunately, this wing is a bit out of shape... :(

I completely underestimated the size of the He 177. Compared to other German bombers, this plane is big.

The 3D printed replacement for the flame extinguishers at the exhaust are done, Look pretty similar than the original.
