I actually have an R100C with an RS fairing in the garage, so you never know*, I might take inspriation from this...

*Yes you do. The chance of me doing anything with it in the forseeable future are about as high as the chances were I'd do anything with it in the last 20 years...

Quote from: scooter on March 24, 2024, 04:58:48 AMFor a minute when I saw the thread title, I thought it'd be something like a Huey or Wessex mounting the sidecar. :banghead:

We had a guy called Pugwash who, via many trials and tribulations, got a nice custom bike build. The first rally he took it to was next to a river, and the site got flash-flooded on the Sunday afternoon. He tried to cling to the bike but got knocked away from it by a floating portaloo and ended up having to be plucked out of a tree by the RAF rescue Sea King. We subsequently got him a one-off T-shirt with a picture of a custom bike on the front and a helicopter on the back, with the slogan:

"I ARRIVE AT RALLIES BY CHOPPER AND I LEAVE RALLIES BY CHOPPER"  ;D

Pugwash didn't have much luck. He got the bike rebuilt in a tent in his garden 'cos he'd split up with his old lady and didn't have a garage by then. On the way to his first rally after finishing it, AGAIN, he stopped in a layby for a burger and a brew, and an HGV driver backed his truck into it...  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Third picture up from the bottom.
12" over springers, low apes (or did they call them western bars?), unraked frame, metallic brown coffin tank, banana seat.
Cissy bar doesn't looks a bit too modern (hard to see) and it needs an iron cross tail-light, but other than that it's a classic late sixties/early seventies street custom.  Love it.

All those bike pics illustrate why the beemer flat twin isn't usually built into a traditional long forks chopper - the position of the cylinders preclude the fitting of forward controls.  Unless you mount them high up.  But then a) you risk setting your pants legs on fire and ii) you risk not getting your feet down in time if you have to stop suddenly.

On the model front I only had a little time before work today, but I attached the cylinder barrels to the crankcase and started work on the sidecar by separating the floor of the body from the chassis and remaking two crossmembers lost in the process.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

If you'd been looking for a GERMAN motorcycle rider with a pig than you would have seen this:  https://www.super-hobby.co.uk/products/German-motorcycle-rider-with-a-pig-WWII.html

The standard Revell R-12 outfit in 1/35th scale has the rider+pig as an option to the rider+gunner.

Zvezda do a version who's box art looks different (sidecar passenger holding the pig), but the actual plastic in the same as the Revell kit.

Very interested to see where this goes. Motorcycles in 1/35 are small, so working on 1/48... Bravo Sir !

Quote from: zenrat on March 26, 2024, 02:51:12 AM...  muguard mounted pillion seat and 50% of its support structure.

As far as I am aware in this space there is an alternate name for this "seat" in this sort of customised motorcycle space.. not sure how forum safe it is though ;)

Fanny pad?

:o

Thanks to Nick I have ordered one of these (and another bike/sidecar for Mr Hog to ride in).

What I like about it is that the pig looks to be enjoying his ride and is looking forward to reaching his destination.  Unlike other pig in sidecars sets I have looked at where the pig is trussed up.

More removal of excess plastic today.  Front mudguard was removed, tanks pad and knee grips were removed and the spare wheel was modified to fit on the sidecar (too much sidecar mudguard to easilly carve away).
Filler went into injector pin marks which would be hidden if built OOB (clever Tamiya design as usual) but are now exposed.
I'm rapidly approaching the point where I will begin painting.  This is going to be tricky as I want chrome on the wheels and forks.  Easiest way is going to be to paint complete sub assemblies with Alclad and then hand paint the parts which are not shiny.

For chrome try Molotow pens: they're excellent.

Perhaps he realises his rider doesn't eat pork ?  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Old Wombat

Pigs can make very good pets, very much like dogs in nature & behaviour. So, maybe, it's the rider's pet pig.

I'd agree with that, most impressive tools.
