That looks a lot more difficult than putting a PR9 wing on a B6!

Rather you than me really.

Dave how much do ya want this mate ?
Myself i would use the best parts of both to get the bird i want ,,,,if it means hacking and slashing then so be it ,,done it before and i know for sure i will do it again ,,i already know what the next one will be and its not a mental amount of destruction ,,quite mild really but theres gonna be hacking for sure .
I do like this build and this aircraft so what ever you decide matey im sure its still gonna be very cool  ;D

I have the same combo including the resin conversion with the intention of building the NASA research version. This build will be very helpful when I have to decide how to do it. I'm waiting to see your choices for tail markings!

Actually that Mach 2 TB-57F is one of their better ones, and you can even see THROUGH the canopy! The canopy doesn't fit all that well though............... :(

Sheesh, you kids want everything to be easy!  ;D

Just like any Mach2 kit one side fits perfectly and the other requires a lot of work, you could graft the Testor cockpit or front end onto the Mach2 fuselage and use the Testor landing gear. I know this works with the Revell B-57G, I couldn't get the new engines to line up so I opted for four Rolls-Royce Griffons taken from the Frog Avro Shackleton MR.3.
I regret not finishing the build as a roommate took a liking to it and bought it off me.

I have an ongoing build where I cut the nose off the MACH 2 kit, replacing it with a Matchbox PR9 nose. Works beautifully. I can't really see why you want to take on the work of sorting a new wing joint and a totally different fin when it's so easy just using the MACH 2 fuselage as is?

Decided to only use the Mach 2 fuselage and wings.  The difference in panel lines and the wing join looked problematic.

So the bomb bay (missile bay)  needs to be cut open and scratched up.

Forgot how big the AIM-54 Phoenix (follow-up to the AIM-47 Falcon) is!  Might have to re-think the load out. Falcons on the wings perhaps.

AIM-54s on the wing Dave..would look quite impressive...oh a couple of sidewinders as well for up close defense.
Falcons can go inside..they don't look as good as the 54 anyway .

I can see that! I'd skip the Falcons completely.

Smart move going with the MACH 2 fuselage. As for weapons, you could probably stagger two phoenixes in the bomb bay, but any more would have to go under the wings, as would any short range missiles.
What should be remembered though, is that these huge wings make the aircraft anything but manoeuvrable and as they also are quite fragile, the manoeuvre envelope is further limited by G's. Hence, fixed guns are pretty much just dead weight whereas an all-aspect, shoot-over-your-shoulder short range missile could be useful for self defence, but preferably, you'd want to keep the bogeys At a (significant) distance.

The 54 is much better looking

Guns for a 1960's? interceptor?  pffft, no way.  Besides the tail gunner in a Bison or Bear would love that.
