Had this in the stash for a long time, maybe I should have left it in there. Needs more work that I was willing to put into it, and the decals for around the nose finally convinced me to Whiff it instead of going Real World. Had some old Swedish decals in the stash, so the Svenska marinen got one, just to be bigger than the de Havilland Dove that the real world Svenska flygvapnet bought in 1947. Decals went on ok, but one fuselage roundel shattered as it was applied, so I didn't try any others after that in case it turned into a disaster and my language turned the air blue. If you decide to build one, the amount of nose weight required could bankrupt you and/or damage your storage shelf. You have been warned.

Looks very good. Especially considering the quality of the original kit.

Indeed!
It's the ancient Airfix one?
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

It is, and the molds are definitely showing their age.

Very smart - and I don't think I've seen a whiffed dH Heron before (tbh you don't see many built RW examples, either).

Very nice, an aircraft I am quite fond of too. So much so, I put 4 turbo props on one and gave it a job wit RAF middle east command.

That's nice! Very subtle and elegant, I like it a lot.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Royal Flight flew Herons when I lived at Benson in the 50s. Bright RED ones at one stage too!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

They would tail-sit IRL if the rear passengers were boarded first.

I have two in the stash*.  ;)
The nacelles are very narrow (Gypsy Major in line engines) making re-engineing tricky.

*Just had a thought.  DH Albatross California Condor.  Longer fuselage, Eight engines.  Very very long wings...

Garrett turbo-props from the Airfix Jetstream? You  might only need two of them, but then it'd look like  stretched Dove.

As for the Cali Condor, BRING IT ON!

As I said, I have two Herons.  One old, one new.  Now, just thinking out loud here but if I cut the outboard sections off one set of wings and then split what's left lengthwise I can match up the leading edges and the trailing edges and plate the gap to give me longer wings with greater chord at the roots but the same proportions as the originals (just longer).  I would then be able to use the new chord dimension as a measurement for where to cut the fuselages to extend the length with what would in effect be a plug over the wing roots.  A second plug ahead of the leading edge might also be required to restore visual balance.  Also longer stabilisers and maybe a taller fin.
