I think you should add music and arrange them like they are doing a song and dance routine.  Think Dead and Breakfast, or Thriller.

Quite a few hours printing there so I owe a mate a few beers, now to cull a few out , bit of clean up and start painting 

I got Zombie by The Cranberries on my cerebral jukebox now...

The top group looks like a single mass of intermeshed bodies, kinda like a zombie orgy. What's your take on them?

Exactly what it is.
The description from Loot Studios is something like Fence Crashers, really is a stacks on of Zombies. No plans to use that crush in this setting.

Hidden over the back is a group appearing out of the sewer manhole, which I think are so cool, but probably not going to use them this time.


Although, if you recall the tank in episode 1 of Walking dead, I now have a thought bubble about that becoming a tank hatch or similar 

Yeah, painted up in remnants of uniforms; possibly with a helmet/cover or two, maybe a shoulder holster?

Undercoated.

.. now using the 20/20 hindsight and talking to cleverer people than me, undercoating in black for the groups would have been better as I have since found out painting them is a pill, because getting the brush through to paint the interior is... well lets say challenging, with lots of griping, recoats and one minor tantrum. With black undercoat, the misses may not have been quite so obvious

Would a black wash be useful to cover any nooks and crannies that got missed?

it looks spectacular  and gives a real fall of civilisation feel  , and too many more zombies it think would mean "you cant see the wood for the trees "  so to speak.
