Checked with the Mods and got an official okey dokey that a 60's TV show qualifies.
So one of the formative ones to set where I am now as far as modelling and other stuff was the Gerry Anderson "Stingray"
Got here in Aus in the late 60's, and between that and Supercar.. then Captain Scarlet, I was hooked. Did I not mention Space Patrol and Fireball XL 5 ;D

Might be one of the last of the Stargazer Models versions of the 1/144 Stingray submarines, Ian was kind enough to fossick up the bits for one, mostly seconds, when I was over last year for SM2023.

Hours and hours of construction ahead  ;)

Like most of these type of old school short run resin kits, it is all about the prep and finish.

Of course getting the paint job to work, is entirely another fish (pun intended)

I see much masking in your future.

Good luck.  Stingray and Thunderbirds were a huge influence on me.

but before much masking.. we have much PSR  ;)
This is a short run resin kit mainly from seconds parts... knew what I was getting so working with what I got, nonetheless.. progress  ;D

Got the extensive parts count together, less the periscope, which would have a high knock-off-ability score, possibly just a bit higher than the various fins
Get the PSR done on this let then lets see how it goes from there  ;)

perttime

Can the periscope be made out of some durable - or flexible - material?

... so it begins

On a roll
More masking

... and now its off, clearly some touch ups needed. Pesky paint will always find a way to sneak under/around/through masking somewhere

Couple more progress shots, looking more like the show model.

Almost there as far as the kit goes. This is a lot smaller than other kits that have been produced, so a lot more fiddly for masking and getting the fine details on the model.
For example, the dual stripe around the conning tower/cockpit, not going to happen in this scale from me at any rate.

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

zenrat

Hmmm.  Smaller than I expected.  Looking very good.

Thanks for the positive Vibes  ;D

Final tinkerings are underway, but first the base.

I use the current fad foam for the base. Added a couple of 3D printed details

Meld it all together with some Sculptamold compound.. just the best stuff to make bases. Dries rock solid and very light

Slap around a bit o paint

Might get some weeds, but at 1/144 getting to look ok might be interesting.
Wonder if I can find a critter of some description that might print out ok... Hmmm giant squid maybe ;D

Wardukw

Buzzy a giant squid would be right in so many ways    ;D

Base is looking good.

Where did you get the "Sculptamold", out of curiousity   ... Asking for a friend, you know. ;)

A ray or a shark, on a thin filament support, would echo and complement the shape of Stingray.
