Right the 2024/2025 GB Season will be as follows.

The Annual One Week Build - Saturday 8th June through to Sunday 16th June.

1st July 2024 to 30th September 2024 the In Memoriam GB to honour the passing of Tophe and others over the past year.
1st November 2024 to 31st January 2025 The Polar War GB - Combat in the Arctic/Antarctic. With 14 votes in the second round
1st March 2025 to 31st May 2025 The Bad Idea GB - Something that seemed like a good idea of the time, but wasn't fully thought through. With 12 votes in the second round.

I'll also issue my annual call for Moderators for each of the GB's. Ideally I'd like 2 for each. It doesn't involve that much work. Most of it is in the initial stages, sorting out the rules etc, and then at the end sorting out the voting. My involvement is to be around to offer help and advice and to sort out the initial Board and threads etc. I don't get that involved, my view is that it's the Moderators GB in conjunction with the membership.

So if you fancy giving moderating a go, let me know.

I'd like to mod the In Memorium GB please Chris.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I know your thread here is mainly asking for Moderators for the group builds. But I have a problem with the above dates and wanted to discuss it.
To put it as short as possible, I don't own an airbrush and can't use one for various reasons which would take too long to explain. The kit I want to use for that group build will be spray painted with a spray can. It's the only way I can get decent white coverage. But I do all my spray can painting in the mid Spring to late Summer months when there's decent weather. November and December are too cold. And I never do regular hand brushing of large surfaces either. Any chance a small allowance could be made for me to get a "slight" early start on some painting? Otherwise if not, then I'll have to bow out of this group build. :(
P.S. - For anybody building aircraft, I hope there'll be some really cool arctic camouflage schemes. Those types of schemes are some of my favorites to look at.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

You can come down to my place to paint. Bit of a hike but I have a spray booth in the basement.

Look I have no problem with switching the Polar War and Bad Idea GB's, so that the Polar War's would be March to May 2025. Does that help you ?

If antipodean members don't complain that then it's too cold for them to paint outside.... ;D
BTW, I am glad that those GB have won. The Jaguar etc GB seemed the winner in the first round, then has been neglected in the second. IMO, it would have been too much anglo/british (and aircraft) centered, not necessarily interesting for the rest of the world. Bad ideas and Arctic look much more amusing... ;D
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I'd like to be a moderator for the Polar War if that's possible or any other if that slot has been taken.

No, I'm not asking you to switch the group builds around. In the meantime, I'll do some more thinking. Maybe some other idea will come to mind.

I think winter is the perfect time for the Arctic/Antarctic GB for most of us in the Northern Hemisphere.

I recall a one week GB where I was forced to use rattle cans in cold rain, 100% humidity, and blowing wind in a hotel parking lot.  If those Habakkuk crews could launch airplanes and operate in the winter North Atlantic, sure you can get a few coats down SeaDude!  You can keep the rattle cans in a shallow pan of warmish water in the house and run outside for a quick coat.  ;)

Here here!  I'm quite happy with the topics- the UK airplane series was getting a bit tiring (standing by for incoming).   High latitudes and bad ideas should allow for a huge array of imaginative and varied ideas.
