Quote from: kitbasher on April 10, 2024, 12:45:47 PMThe Liberator does look good but I'll wait for the (hopefully) RAF version.  I suspect this will be Coastal Command, but a SEAC scheme would be preferred.

100 Group also operated the Liberator and seeing that the B-17 was released as a 100 Group machine the Liberator as the same would not surprise me.

Gondor

Indeed it did, and I've a 100 Group Fortress in the stash.  Only suggested SEAC markings as, apart from the final 'red box' boxing of the old Airfix Liberator and the Matchbox/Revell Wellington I don't recall ever seeing a British medium or heavy bomber kit released with a SEAC marking option.

RAF 100 Bomber Support  Group markings would allow all sorts of frills, furbelows, greebles and similar devices to be affixed to the aircraft.  As you  all know already this was the "Special Duties"  RAF group, with Airborne Cigar  jammer, Jostle (jammer), Mandrel (jammer), Airborne Grocer (jammer), Piperack (jammer), Perfectos (homer), Serrate (homer), Corona (spoofer), Carpet (jammer) and Lucero (homer)    aboard their aircraft. Whiffers modelled  fuselage excrescences  of  "Haberdasher"  "Airbourne Parsnip"  and  "Carousel"   would confuse the JMN fraternity  completely.

You'd best get the Martin Streetly  books on 100 Group.

The Aircraft of 100 Group, 100 Group: Confound and Destroy. Don't know the third title myself. I have the first, and earlier this evening ordered the latest version of the second. I will now look for the third.

Fit miniature versions to an Avro Anson and call them Airborne Cigarette, Fumble, Spindle, Airborne Barrowboy, Pipestand, Adequatos, Roughen, Coronary, Doormat and Lucid.

Lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth on Britmodeller over mould misalignment issues with some sprues in the Liberators.  Not that it affects me - not a kit I'm likely to be buying.

Nor I, but mould misalignment is something that simply should not happen these days. As we all know from years of experience, it plays hell with small parts, and skinny parts like aerials and gear legs. I'm sure that many of us have taken a look at parts in the box and immediately decided 'gear up, pilot in.'

No problem with mine - just checked it
