EDIT: failed to obey Rule 2 - posting the original thread. Looked high and low, thought I had posted a few pics, guess I was wrong, so here is a link to the post that first mentions it: https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=50063.msg969750#msg969750

Haven't posted anything on this one since I bought it a couple of years ago, September 3, 2022, so it qualifies. Leaning toward Cuban, trying to decide between pre or post revolution. Water damage on box is my fault, decals unaffected.

Current state after some paint disasters, but it wouldn't be one of my builds with at least one of those!  ;D

Cuban would be strange enough! Looks like a challenge

I'm almost ankle-deep in plastic shavings after scribing panel lines, and it isn't even close to being finished.  ;D

I think I remember building that. Dark blue and ridges all over. VERY long time ago!

Exactly right, but but once you start construction it feels like a good solid kit, just the sort of thing that could be enjoyed by a youngster starting in the hobby. And even those with more experience. I sanded off the raised panel lines and rescribed them, reworked the retractable tail bumper, scratched a tailhook, and went through a lot of Tamiya masking tape.

That's coming along nicely Dave
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks. Colour balance is off, probably because I shot it under the LEDs of the spray booth without adjusting the camera for it. Should be a nice gull grey.

I will heartily recommend ARMYCAST decals, with two caveats: First, do NOT leave them in the water for more than a few seconds, all you need to do is dip them and then lay them on some paper towel while you swab the model with setting solution. Second, the film is scarily thin, take care when placing them, I almost had a disaster with the port side 455. But that thin film means that they settle down superbly. They're also responsible for a possibly debilitating financial outlay in the future, because now I have the rest of the sheet for various 1/48th P-47 Thunderbolts, and I really need to use them on some other whiffs.  ;D

Finished! Nowhere near perfect, but I'm still learning a few techniques, and rather than trying to get everything right all at once I'm taking baby steps. If I see one of these on a shelf at a decent price it will be purchased, there are a few things I would like to improve on, now that it's shortcomings are familiar.
