Quote from: Gondor on May 18, 2024, 10:43:55 AMThat looks good. off the top of my head, that's a rise of 1mm for every 17.5mm length which is far easier to measure.

Gondor

I much prefer whole numbers and even with the magnifiers, the half mil subdividers on the rule give me a headache. Once the first one was marked out it was easy enough. Keep double checking the measuring when cutting, not to mention test fitting and you're golden.  It doesn't help when some knacka has put in lateral strengthening plates where an outer spar needs to go.

I'm not an engineer, I'm using what's worked for me in the past with the few vacforms I've finished and largely making the rest up on the hoof, fuelled by alcomahol, bacon crisps and hot beverages, all with a Romanian deep house soundtrack.

Not a lot today, but I've primed inside the fuselage and the cockpit section.  Getting that done is the next major task so I can get the fuselage closed up.  Then it's a great deal of filling and sanding.

P38?  Check.  Files and sanders?  Check. Rum? Check.  Coke and fresh limes?  Check.  All we need now is sunshine.

Gonna need a bigger cutting mat!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It's A2 as it is.  I salvaged half a dozen or so, barely used too, that were were in a skip to be chucked out when I worked at the Chronicle.  That's one of the two I have left.

Thankfully, all of the cutting has been done, but much sanding and filling is to come.

This is a monster build Lee..not only the size of the model but the build aswell ...very bloody impressive mate .
Officially enjoying every moment of your build   ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I am afraid that Lee will have a breakdown for this build, and will be taken away screaming in a straightjacket, or will suddenly become a good law-abiding bourgeois citizen and start collecting stamps.... ;D
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

What could well send me mental is manouvering this thing for paint.  Having had a fly around with the taped up one up thread, it could prove troublesome.

The Condor and Ju 352 were bad enough in that respect but this is nigh on twice the size!

I've been trying to visualise the size of this and it's difficult. Do you plan taking it to any shows once finished Lee ?

This is a good excuse for me to make it to Telford again this year.

Nor did he say WHERE in Telford he was going. I recall there's a good curry house there that Lee's mentioned before...........

Yes the canopy fits, but needs a lot of filler and blending in.
