VERY impressive work Thomas. But how tall is she, I have no idea of scale in the figures world?

Excellent build, Dizzy!

I still prefer the more "realistic" look of the inspiration image ...

... But you've expressed the anime look perfectly & with precise attention to detail.

She's pretty exactly 1'/12" tall - quite huge! Bigger than a Barbie, I think?

Thanks a lot. Well, since the kit was/is not based on the illustration and had to be modded, there were compromises to be made. After all, the kit would hardly resemble the anime Rei Ayanami at all, at least the face, so that the result is not as bad or off as I expected. There are, however, more realistic dojinshi kits of the character around, but these would either not be suitable for the plugsuit conversion/tuning I wanted to do, or they are, well, much more sexualized and "off topic". Another problem is that, even if such a kit is nominally the same scale, interchanging parts like the head is almost impossible, because of the kits' individual proportions, style and details.

However, what a figure/model based on an official illustration can look like is this here - I accidently found the artwork that inspired the resin kit when I built it many moons ago:

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Oh YEAH!  :o

She's got to look IMPRESSIVE in the actual plastic, or vinyl, or whatever!

very nice looking stuff Dizzy
as you say the face isnt very "Rei"  but the figure does do the AI  art very very well.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

Agree with the latter. Despite my doubts about "being a Rei" the model turned out to be a surprisingly convincing 3D rendition of the artwork.
