Quote from: zenrat on June 20, 2024, 05:18:35 AMThanks folks.

The slate is left over from our patio and garden paths.  Got a lot of it...

Over ordered ?  ;)

Yeah, bought three crates and were left with half a crate.  But you have to get extra with crazy paving as you need to ensure you have enough to sort through to find a suitable shape.  Plus a lot of the left overs are pieces too small to use as a paver.  So I have plenty of model bases.
There were bigger pieces left but I laid a "parterre" (as Mrs z calls it) around the washing line with them.

That's preaty good going on the estimation front
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

As i'm currently working on the Hasegawa based Pheagle, the whiffed Airfix Rotodyne, and have just finished the Op Chastise Academy B17E I thought it was time to build a 1/72 aircraft kit with a bit of challenge to it.
So i've dug an Eduard MiG 15 (profipack) out of the stash.  The resin parts (most of the cockpit) are soaking in a solution of bleach and washing up liquid and I will begin tomorrow.
Not sure of the scheme.  Might even be RW.

That dio looks good indeed, well deserved prize, Fred! Congrats!

Thanks mate.

Progress on the MiG 15 consisted of carefully removing the casting blocks and flash from the, now clean of mould release, resin parts.

Congrats on the WOT8 mate..a very nice build 👏 👍  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Having had four weeks off work during which I went nowhere (much) and did nothing (much) I find myself back at work with far too many newly started builds on the go and much less time than I had when I started them in the last month.

An audit of the immediate are around my bench comes up with the following which can be classed as in progress;

Operation Chastise B-17E - OK so it's finished but I am still writing the back story and it's turning into a long one.
Sixties Chopper bike with sidecar.
Tinydyne.
F45 Pheagle.
1/35 Panhard VBL light armoured recce vehicle.
Sea Witch 1/96 Clipper Ship currently undergoing rigging.
Kitbashed 1/25 V6 trike using Me262 fuselage.
Almost OOB 1/25 Pontiac Fiero
Logistics GB Camper Tank camper which just needs the hand rails around the deck and stairs fixing.
1/48 Truck and Trailer which just needs the transfers on the trailer fixing.
Two 1/25 cars with the bodies painted but no construction done on the rest.
A 1/25 Chevy Monte Carlo panel delivery restoration awaiting paint.
A scratch built 1/25 1969 Winnebago which reached the interior stage and stalled.

There are more, but as they are tucked away in their boxes or on the "to be fixed/restored" shelf I am not counting them.  Oddly though they are all cars.  I seem to finish aircraft and armour.  I think the problem with cars is 1) I get too into the fine detail and b) I procrastinate when it comes to painting them because I so often fail at shiny paint.  Obviously the answer is Kerbside builds with flat paint.   ;D

And I am about to begin two builds to remember Tophe.

This is not a complaint, it's just a SitRep.
This is the normal state of affairs.

You may continue.  Build on.

For the cars you might consider turning them into rat rods. All rust and dirt but with lots of grunt!

Post engine fire melted?

Heh heh heh, no.  Just a RH drive conversion.

I'm not into Rat Rods.  Not the artificially crusty unsafe crap heap throw junk and see what sticks type anyway.  A nice period style rod with a touch of patina on the other hand...
The trouble with rods though is everything is on show which encourages me to dive into the detail...

No more new starts though until I have finished a few (yeah, right).

Yeah, I have two I swore I would finish and now I've started the junkyard dog. Plus I'm going to start one for Tophe.

I started two builds for Tophe today.  But that's OK as they were already on the list.

On the list above is a 1/35 Panhard VBL.
I've not posted any pics of this yet.  Wheels are not on, it's just sitting on a block for height.

VBL WIP 15-07-24 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

It's by Tiger Model.  Nice kit.  It's going together easilly.  Body in upper and lower halves which needed a touch of filler on the seam.  Full interior with transfers and PE.  I'll be posing it with all doors and hatches open.
It'll probly be french army three colour camo as shown on the box art.  So an almost RW build.

At first glance I thought that Tiger Model box was a Tamiya box as they look much the same. Are the two firms linked?

Oh, and that VBL is probably the best looking modern scout vehicle
