That's roughly what it took to get to this stage.

Nearly two weeks since my last blog entry, just not been in the mood modelling-wise or for anything in fact  :-\

I recently got a very nice letter from the Tax man, consequently, I am getting a professional in to finish the tiling in the bathroom. It's only been stalled for a couple of years

I have also been purchasing a few kits. One of my whiff plans is to do a two-seat Mirage 4000, I'm thinking of it being a 4000N with a bucket of instant sunshine under it.

Despite having extra cash I have had very little enthusiasm to spend it, struggling to come up with ideas for what to buy. That's just not me.

Those nice letters from the Tax Man are always appreciated.  As for what to do with the gift from the government, there's always playing catch up on bills.  It may not be as fun, but knocking down debt always feels better.

Just because you have the cash, you don't have to spend it. I resisted the temptation when I got paid for building that sodding greenhouse in April to spend on plastic, although I did spend some of it on seeing Joy Division tribute band Shadowplay instead.  And they would have been cheap at three times the cost.  Seeing them again in December.

In my experience a nice letter from the tax man (or other windfall) is invariably followed by a large bill or expense.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Every. Jolly. Time. I get my tax refund, they bill me for unpaid tax... not at the same time, oh no - the bill follows after the refund is credited.

I've since found out it's because I have had a pay rise and the interest on my savings should have been taxed at the higher rate of the new income bracket.
Who thinks of something like that, other than the Tax Man and Accountants??!!  :banghead:
Hopefully sorted for next year...

No windfall, but to ensure I don't make plans to do anything nice in the near future we did get a thousand dollar gas bill today... :banghead:

I am putting at least some of the money to good use. A couple of years ago I started to refurbish the bathroom because the Housing Association that I rent from had changed their standards so that the shower I had fitted for several years after I had painted the bathroom in "Bathroom " paint was no longer sufficient. The new standard was wet wall or tiles and nothing else. Similar to most of my modeling projects I ran out of steam and the bathroom has been roughly 2/3 finished for some time. This windfall should see the project finished.
To that end I put an advert up on My Builder.com and I have had two responses, the first of which will be looking at the job this evening. They are my preferred candidate so far as the other appears to be rather pushy. We shall see though.

Ouch  :-\
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ouch indeed!  Gas as in gas for heating etc, or gas as in car fuel?

Heating and hot water.  A price increase plus a cold snap.   :banghead:

What period of time are we talking about this bill covering? I pay 1200 per annum at the moment.

Not getting much modelling done as I have been getting hooked by the Olympic swimming, very gripping stuff.

I have also organised a tiler to finish the tiles in my bathroom due to me simply running out of enthusiasm and drive, he starts Tuesday at 9:15 which means a lay in for me as I am usually at work two hours before then.
