Quote from: Weaver on June 29, 2024, 03:23:17 AMAlso, it's the Coventry Show tomorrow, so I, and I suspect quite a few other UK members, are giving priority to getting all our stuff ready for that.

I might be thinking about doing that sort of stuff after lunch time.  ;D

I just have to load my monster stock cardboard boxes in the car actually.

Well I'm sitting here alternating between fondling plastic and surfing the web, so I think we're on the same page here...

Some of my boxes need re-jigging, I need to print a card for the Skydiver and I need to generate the on-route data for my super-high tech, infinite-battery, GPS-jamming proof INS (Internal Navigation System).

I'll make a start gathering the bits and pieces for this build today at some point..it's the 30th of June here today so it makes sense.
I've got pretty much everything I'll need for this mash up ..now just to find it all  ;D

Name wise I'm lost at the mo...the ol mind is a blank but something will pop up I'll bet .
The biggest hunt will be finding the floats ..I know I've got em but where I've got em is a whole new world of fun 😁

Where in general did Tophe live?  My build may be based at an airport near his home.

Thank you.

He had been living in Lagnieu:

The closest airfield appears to be Bourg-Ceyzériat Airport about 38km Northwest.
Bourg-Ceyzériat

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport and Geneva Airport are the closest major airfields.

Thank you very much!

According to Christophe his uncle was a former Bearcat pilot and I guess he had passed on his passion for aviation to him.

An asymmetric P-51 I did after Tophe's drawing.

Tophe also loved asymmetric F-16 and P-38.

Hmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔
That triple engined P-38 has me very interested
There might be a change of plans here..instead of P-51 twin...P-38 triple ..on floats  ;)

I'm thinking of a reengine P-38. I have some C-130 props and a P-38 kit laying around. I might have to rearrange some parts. Something in the intell gathering trade.

Weird you say P-38 Ken because that's exactly what I'm playing with right now ...another one for Robert and Tophe..a triple engined P-38 float plane racer  ;D
I'm about to make it official. 🤪

I was just gifted some extra models and I finally have my inspiration.
They are warships, so I'll be removing the weapons in memory of Tophe.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Please, could someone post a colour patch of an appropriate Tophe colour?  Rules say "He painted all his builds Sky Blue", something like this would be OK?

That's not far off 'Tophe Blue', but could be just a tad bluer to my mind.

I think he used a Tamiya blue most of the time.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

With my bodged attempt using the Airfix 1/72 Gloster Gladiator model kit, I'm thinking about adding floats to the next one and yes it will have another engine installed.

Thanks, I'll check that.
