I have been undecided for some time if I should start this build which is more a Project Cancelled than a what if. The base kit is the AFV Club  35159 IDF SHOT Centurion with the Accurate Armour C042 Conversion set.

So this will be an FV4004 Conway 120mm Tank Destroyer.

Conway being a town in Wales, now spelt Conwy.

Interested Al..very interested  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Although the kit I am using is supposed to be an Israeli machine, it is a Mk5 or 5/1 which as I am only using the hull is ideal, especially as it was the cheapest one I could find at the time.

And this is how far I have got with it. I have some of the parts from the rear to go back in. Sub-assemblies C, B16 & B17 x 2, as well as D, B10 & B11 x 2. I have found fitting these items a right royal pain in the A$$  :banghead:  :banghead:  The next one of these I build I will not be following the instructions as much as I did this time. Each of the two sub-assemblies also have a top and a bottom which is really indistinct in the drawings as well as on the spures. Fortunately where the parts go makes it difficult to see them which is a help.

It looks like a Centurion hull so that's a plus. More as and when...

They were, in 1967.

Their hit track 'The Letter'.

'Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain't got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home
My baby, just-a wrote me a letter'  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

That was a great song including the jet sound effects.

Awesomeness... I have recently done the AFV Club FV4005 version and it looks, very imposing.

Then there is the 20 plus little grab handles on all the deck plates. As a veteran of 8+ AFV Club Centurion builds :)

I like Accurate Armour stuff, the Conway was always on my wish list.. but now I will just kick back and wait for you to do the conversion so that the injection version will come out

Gondor

I see @buzzbomb that you have followed the kit instructions for your FV4005. The one I have in the box will be built without the bump strips around the engine deck, same with this build as there was no need for them.

Yeah the Mr Hewes channel on Youtube rebuild on the FV4005 said the same thing, so they should come off. I only had photos I took of the "version" that was at Bovvy some 10 odd years ago. Always some new info out there.
Plus it was just an OOB build. Still need a Conway/Conwy for the Cent collection though, so much interest in this build.

Looking at the price, I am glad I bought mine years ago.

As a owner of 5 or 6 Centurion tanks the ideas are always flowing and yep the Conway was amongst the ideas list ..now seeing this build I'm quite happy about as I'll get to see the build in action.
Al I'm so surprised that the AFV Club was the cheapest one you could find  :o
Here's it's the most expensive you can find

Don't get me wrong, I just badly worded that. The IDF one was the cheapest AFV Club Centurion I could find, I have had a couple of the Academy and or Tamyia kits which is why I went with the AFV Club one.

Definitely well aware of the yumminess of the AFV Club Cent over all the other ones..ive got a Tamiya Centurion in the stash and apart from them looking alike that's about it 😆
I would have gone for the AFV Club one too ..for certain..im pretty sure I've got 4 of em 😆 🤣 😂
I absolutely love it not knowing exactly how many I've got 😄😄

Um, I think I've got five, maybe six, & I'm fairly sure they're all AFV Club.

My current stash of AFV Centurions is Seven in all guises. This includes a Mk.1, Mk.5/1, Mk.5/2 - 6, AVRE Mk.5, FV4005 Stage II an IDF Sho't Kal Dalet and the IDF Mk.5 5/1 that I am using for the FV4004. There may well end up being others. Another conversion that I intend to do is to make the Mk.5/2 - 6 into a Mk.12 or 13.
