With the publication of the 1957 White Paper, all aircraft projects were cancelled, in favour of guided missiles.  Unfortunately after a couple of years it was apparent that missile technology wasn't up to the job, and of course, a missile can't intercept and follow a Russian bomber.

However, as all future projects had been cancelled, that left the RAF with the Hunter and the Javelin.

With a desperate need for a supersonic interceptor, the RAF turned to the United States, and the Convair F-106 Delta Dart.

The 106 looks good in any scheme, but SPECIALLY in RAF camo! 

Got me thinking now, I have two Hasegawa Sixes in The Loft..................

 

That works surprisingly well, even though I am not certain about the US weapons.
Reminds me that I want to build a cammo'd 106 someday, too.

I tried that also with my build, so I sealed the weapons bay up, and put 2 pairs of red tops on the wings. The weapons bay became a fuel tank.
