My Current Whiff Planning

Ok so I'm probably a little OCD but I've got my builds planned out for the next few years based on current stash. There are a number of themes (ex F-4, Jolly Rogers, USN Aggressors, Vietnam COIN/CSAR) and of course Whiffs. Plans include at least 2-3 whiffs each year. Here is my current list of whiffs (ones in italics I don't have a source kit yet and strike thru are done) in rough order of expected building. Most fit into one of a couple of running timelines though some others are just "oooh that'd look cool".

  • FV-9a Sea Harrier
  • F-105D (Monogram) as S.105 F105KR recon mod in RAF winter camo
  • P-61C (Hobby Boss) as OA-61D COIN in SEA camo.
  • F-107 (Trumpeter) as Canadian or Dutch  "Dirty Green"
  • F-18C (Hasagawa) as JASDF F-18L/F-2A in Ocean Camo scheme
  • F-2A  (Hasagawa) as US-Navy F-16N  (aka Vought 1600-ish)
  • F-8I West German Luftwaffe
  • RAF FGR.3 (Mirage 4000)
  • F-29 Aggressor VFC-111 Sundowners

I will never be that organized!
I'll be watching your progress on these.

I learnt long ago that any planning I do is ... usually wasted effort.  I still have, pinned to my wall, my build plans for 2018 - of the 13 things planned only 4 are crossed off as ''achieved.''

I am, actually, still working on the last two things I posted here - my Lockheed Lightning-winged Meteor and a sci-fi hover truck from a television remote.  Very slow progress, I grant you, but  - still in progress.

Where am I going?  And why am I in a handbasket?

As did I, but strangely I still find that jotting future plans down with pen and paper enables me to relax more when it comes to life.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Yes - if it's written down, there's less pressure to remember it, and you can see where you were in the planning/thought process.
And you don't waste time going over things again and making the same mistakes* as before.

*Other mistakes though, will happen... don't ask, etc.

As they say.  If you fail to plan...

...you have spare time to do something more interesting.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Full respect to folks who have plans..make plans and stick to em ..for myself..absolutely pointless.
I'll see a model or a pic and bang.. another build idea...I'll get ideas from existing ideas ...it's just a never ending story of one idea after another.

Hell a little while ago I got a Revell Fuchs A6 APC ..it's a 6 wheeled German APC and I've had quite a few of these..it's a cool vehicle...the last one I turned into a Wildcat AA vehicle.a RW build ...this one had an idea for some sort of recon apc ..then I saw this Chinese ZTD-05 AAAV..tracked amphibious assault vehicle..the idea changed and then I discovered a couple of other parts in that model which have now changed the build plan for another build 😀

My mojo does not interact very well with any planning whatsoever. Accordingly, I build whatever my heart desires at any time. And when I lust for something else, then that's what I build.

Almost.
The main problem with the above principle is that the Shelf of DoomTM is uncontrollably large in numbers and tend to grow logarithmically. Accordingly (again), I try to at least finish off the mechanical parts of the build, meaning that I don't have to hang on to the kit boxes too. But that is, sometimes, mojo-disturbing too.  And then I get hiatuses.

I guess I need a larger place and more time..

I have much the same issues/wish list, myself...  ;D

Extra-dimensional pockets are highly recommended.

I too have a list but I find that I tend to recycle my builds. The 1/24 Rolls-Royce Phantom Menace is likely to be the donor for the Tamiya Jaguar Mk2 Coupe as the rest of the 32 builds are awaiting paint or primer.
