While trying to mask up the port side fuselage, the long one, for painting the blue aft end I managed to snap it in half!

It'll glue back together OK, but it'll need a re-spray in the white afterwards.

Yikes, and white and silver are two of the toughest repairs to cover up, at least for me.  Godspeed Kit, our thoughts are with you.   

It'll only need white with what I've done to it so far.

And a multitude of coats of Halford's Appliance White will hide a multitude of sins.   

Trust me, I used to be a serious airliner modeller.

Re-joining the long half of the'126 wasn't as easy as it should have been. It was a clean break, right on the joint line where I'd extended it of course, and the two stiffener bars were still in good shape, but no amount of super glue would keep it stuck back together! 

I'm starting to lose faith in superglue I must admit, it's nowhere near as good as it used to be for some reason.

So I hybridised it, I used super glue on the stiffeners and Revell Contacta on the actual joint faces, and with 4 strips of Tamiya tape along the fuselage length it's holding together now.

There'll be lots of PSR needed afterwards and more than few coats of paint I'm sure, but that's what it's all about.

Fingers crossed.......

Oh yes, I found a few sheets of my old decal paper too, so I'll reprint the sheets in the hope that the second lot actually stays attached to the airframe.

I've come across that too quite a few times with super glue basically not sticking to itself.
On a few occasions I've had to cut the old super away..then super glue super thin sheet styrene to the bits and then glue its with plastic glue...no matter it's how long ya hold the parts together they won't grab.
It's so damn weird 😐

Too much CA just won't harden. Thinner the better. Or use baking soda to kick it into hardening.

Ken mate your dead right and this I know as with all the PE I've used with armoured kits ya can't use much anyway especially with things like tool clamps and so on .
It's just damn strange when even thin layers of CA won't stick to itself

Had just that experience on numerous occasions.
Even filing the old glue off isn't any guarantee.

Hence why I try to avoid using it.

I must admit some of the £ Shop super glue tends to "Go off" after a while, but it's cheap enough that that doesn't matter to much.

I got some Dental Glue the other day to give that a try, comes complete with the UV Lamp for hardening. Might be a shade more controllable for my wobbly fingers. 

The 'hybrid' glue system, where I used gel superglue on the stretchers and Contacta on the joint itself, seems to have worked a treat. 

I rough sanded the actual joint face first to get rid of surplus superglue and it fitted together very nicely.
