That said, when a decal is set, it's set. That's how I've always worked (it may have something to do with building quite a few Matchbox kits early on) and the only way to get it off is to sand it off.

The dissolving issue is another matter entirely, though. But you're using acrylics, right? I'm still using various hues of thermopressed dinosaurs, packed the UK in small tins saying "Humbrol" on one side. Regardless of brand, however, do you think it would be reasonable to assume that enamels will be less affected by Klear than acrylics?

Speaking of paint issues, though - I am experiencing some serious wear on the Humbrol metalcote-painted leading edges of the Lansens. That doesn't seem to get as locked in by the Klear varnish as the matt enamels do, so I intend to reinforce with ordinary enamel varnish instead.

Future/Klear type stuff will certainly react with acrylic paint.  A crackle effect can result.  ISTR it reacts particularly violently with Tamiya acrylics.
OK on enamels and lacquers though.

Seems that it's best to pick a brand and use only their products. No mix and match allowed.

No major advances today as work did interfere. Eventually, I must find a way to support my existence and my interests that doesn't interfere to such an extent with my life! 

Anyway - some Danes got somewhat closer to getting "Kleared" and some Tunnans (yes, it's been a while on the dreaded Shelf^TM for them too) actually got some touch ups too. Not that anything is ready for decalling yet, but small steps are also steps.

Today, it feels as if summer officially came to an end. Not weatherwise - tomorrow is looking to be rather hot - but as I had to leave the cottage for our regular place, and looking ahead at plans, it seems as it'll be at least a week into September until I get to stay here again. And that's somewhat of a downer.

Also more work today than expected, meaning less time just to hang out and even less for modelling. A few strokes on the odd Dane got made anyway, but I'm still some fiddling away from that Klear. Tedious.
And tomorrow, there's also loads on the schedule but that's to be dealt with then. Now I'll see if I can find some old britcrime on telly to grump away the evening in front of.

The endlessness of touching up details! In particular as I find myself betrayed by this age-related and absolutely ridiculously annoying deteriorating eyesight that seems to be just another way of life telling me to sod off and leave my worldly goods to the next generation.
Every time I check my models, I find a small patch needing correction. And when I correct that, there's more often than not another overcorrection resulting in yet another correction. And so on and so forth.

On the other hand, the Lansens and that reconnaissance Draken are looking reasonably good, methinks, even if they're mainly sitting around now, waiting for the two Tunnans and the three green Danes to catch up. If I can, I prefer to batch-paint when I have large areas to paint, or when something is to be all over varnished, as in this case. The Tunnans are waiting for the Danes to be Kleared and decalled, and the three 32's and the 35 is waiting fore all the others to be ready for matt varnish. On the other hand - once there, I'll suddenly have nine models in line for the final touches. Considering my normal output, that's pretty groundbreaking. 

Ah, well. Maybe the weather's still too nice today. Or maybe not.

I know the feeling.  In my case its due to me holding the model up close to my eye and really scrutinising everything.
You have to ask yourself if anyone else is ever going to do that?  Are you ever going to do that again?

Stop looking so closely at the model after touching up.  Hold it at arms length.

holding the model at arms length is a good thing,  it allows you to view it more as a real object at distance, than as a item under magnification....   it also covers a multitude of sins,  ask me as a wargamer how i know this    

Good advice. 

Did I possibly make four new rounds of touch ups yesterday? Yes, I did! Was that three rounds more than a better painter would have needed? Indeed it was.. 

Anyway - that done, I managed to get that layer of Klear on today, and then start moving on decalling - just to find that I have misplaced my Danish decals. Quite annoying! Well, having spent the best part of three hours thoroughly rummaging through all of the old piles of God-knows-what one tend to keep adjacent to the hobby area, I actually managed to find the exquisite PaulusVictor sheet, so peace and order is restored. I did lose most of today's allocated hobby time, though.. 

Well, well. I found those decals. That's significantly better than having to order another set..

I always find what I wanted when looking for something else......
But at least I find it. One of my better moves was putting all my decals in a three ring binder.
