No modelling as I've had a couple of days out in the sun, and yes I am sunburnt

Sunday I was at the cricket at the Oval. My first taste of the "100". You get the women's game followed by the men's so it was quite a day out in the sun. I went with an open mind (any comments will see The Book) and I must admit it was fun. Near enough a full house and the interesting thing was to see the number of kids enjoying themselves while their' dad's had a pint or two   Good way of getting the youngsters involved in the game, cricket not drinking. That comes at senior team level  .

Then yesterday was down beside the Wey Canal, near where the Wey enters the Thames for a really nice lunch with my old No 2 and my counterpart from the Netherlands when we were all part of Corus   Good day, and the swans were magnificent.

I suppose we should just let that run

Oh crumbs, I went aground there while steering my Uncle's canal boat back in the 80s. The water in the Wey had got so low the darn thing wouldn't float there, and we needed a tow off.  :banghead:  :banghead:

I didn't see the point in inventing The Hundred when there was a perfectly good 20 over format already in existence.

Glad you had a good day out though.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You won't find me arguing. I can't really see the point myself, but we have it, and it's in its second season and the crowds are good. So what do I know. It's not something I'll be going out of my way to attend, but as said I enjoyed the day out. The finals are this coming weekend anyway so back to Test cricket next week

I get the feeling the ECB wanted to invent something unique to them that they could own outright.  The rest of the world's short game series are 20 overs though so it'll be interesting to see if they succeed at this or if it morphs into "The OneTwenty".  Or is there already a UK T20 competition?

I rarely watch T20 games on the idiots lantern and when I do it tends to be the womens games.  When they started the BBL (Big Bash League - terrible name) up here they deliberately had two teams in each capital city so as to try and generate some local rivalry.  Melbourne has the Rebels and the Stars for example.

That's the thing, we already have a T20 competition, so this is just another one.

Unlike our other competitions it's not county based. There are 8 teams and consortium (read counties) bid for a franchise. The winning franchises play with flash names, but out of existing county grounds, so the Oval Invincibles are to all intents and purposes Surrrey   The only slightly odd thing is that because of the way the player contracts are dealt with you can get a situation where , for instance, a Surrey player is turning out for the opposition, and this happened on Sunday. A lot of the players are those you will see in the various short form games around the World, who travel from country to country. "Have bat and ball. Will travel"  ;D Each team plays each other once and then the top 3 go through to the finals, this coming weekend.

I'm not a fan, but it was a good day out, even if I am rather sun burnt  The good thing is that quite often you get a double header and they will play the women's and men's games on the same day. So the women's game has got more exposure.

I've tickets for the Friday of the Oval Test against Sri Lanka, that's more my form of cricket

Oval Invincibles (Surrrey) won the men's "Hundred"   Quite a good game as well.

As for modelling ? Very little done, just not in the mood for various reasons, plus been making the most of what's passing as a summer this year  . Hopefully get back to the Tamiya Zero this week, the 162 and 410 are laying on the spare bed looking up at me with sad eyes, but it's not working. I'm out and about a bit in September and October and then it's Telford  :o

Once the Zero's done I'm going to start on the recently aquired DB-7, maybe that'll get the juices flowing again ? We'll see.

I've got the opposite problem.  Too much started, too much underway, still fighting the urge to start more,  but too little time.
