Quote from: Old Wombat on August 27, 2024, 08:00:24 AMI've just ordered on of these from the manufacturer (in Ukraine);

Don't ask how much ( :o ) but let it suffice to say that the car, a different set of wheels for it & postage was not significantly more than purchasing just the car on-line from an Australian store.

I'm going to try to kit-bash it with one of these;

To make a pre-war staff car.

This should come close to the most expensive kit-bash ever, if I do it.

I will check very carefully to see if it can be done, first, & if it can't I'll just use the Fordson & bodge the backstory to suit (& build the '39 pick-up OoB).

It's such a pity that some of these less "sexy" kits aren't kitted in styrene. :-\
Looking at those 2 pics mate that should be very doable..you'll have 75% of the hardest parts to make.
The back end is pretty simple to build ...yeah this would be a very cool build for sure 👌 😎

Gondor

Forgot to add that I got a couple of upgrade sets from Scorpion Minature Models. One set for the longer-hulled Centurion Mk 1 and a set of generic Centurion Engine deck handles.

Just arrived 10 minutes ago my much anticipated Special hobby mirage iii CJ. Typical special hobby attention to detail, and quality. It has 3 pairs of intake splitters included which will be very handy for detailing the other 2 PM mirage/Neshers, when I get round to carving them up. :wacko:

Airfix 1/72 Shannon class lifeboat.

Nice looking kit, much simpler than the Severn class.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Quote from: Beermonster58 on August 08, 2024, 01:34:35 AM:thumbsup:  ;)  ;D  Actually, I've decided to do a Roden C-133 Cargomaster in that lovely RAF finish too!! You ain't getting commission on THAT though! ;D .I've actually got three of the C-133 kits (including one with the Thor missile. I don't really like natural metal finishes so, one of the others at least  (probably the missile carrier) will be in S E Asia camouflage.

I'm doing my Thor carrying Cargomaster as a RAF one too, eventually................................. :(

Good choice! :thumbsup: My 3rd C-133 will be completed in the MAC Grey/white finish.  The RAF one will form part of my "What if the Belfast was never built" collection.! ;)  ;D .It'll be a very small collection but, will include the A & A models An-22 under the sub theme "What if those bloody politicians hadn't f*&%£! up as usual" collection. As to adding to the stash, three different versions of the ICM MiG-25. I still need to get the two seater and, basic interceptor versions. ;D  I'm thinking a C-141B might look nice in RAF colours too.

Three? I know of two variations, straight (earlier ATAR09C engine) and filleted where they meet the "souris" centrebodies (ATAR9K-50). What's the third?

I don't know what engine they could be for to be honest, there might be info in the instructions, but I do know one set has a red cross through it on the sprue diagram. I want some more of these making or acquiring, as I have plans for more of them too.

EMHAR 1/72nd F94C Starfire (Early)

Brand new stock, so the EMHARs are on the market again.

LMAO - Put this away in the attic a few days after I got it. Then yesterday, I went to put the Meteor T.Mk.7.5s away in the "Meteor shower" in the back bedroom wardrobe, and there, sitting laughing at me in the same stack, was another EMHAR early-Starfire, which I apparently paid £10 for at some point (£16 for the latest one!) but which I'd totally forgotten about!  :rolleyes:

Oh well, at least the boxes are so oversized that the pair of them will comfortably double up in one...

The trouble with kit stashes is that by the time you've got so many that you realize you need a list, it's already too much trouble to make a list... :banghead:

Hmm, okay, just curious.

That difference I described is the the only reliable way to distinguish a Mirage 50 from a Mirage IIIE/5 by the way. People talk about fin fillets and doppler bumps under the nose, but those were all entirely dependent on the customer-specified avionics fit so any combination is possible.

My ex was a team leader in admin at the local BIG hospital so I employed her skills in writing the list while I dictated the contents to her. This helped brake the back of the problem. Now and again I keep finding odd descriptions of fully CAPITALIZED words in the list from when she was my data inputter.

I suppose voice-to-text software would help if it's good enough now, although It'd better have a learning algorithm or you're going to have endless "Suck Koys", "Ill You Shines", "Dewo Teens" and "Oooh I Forgot I'd Got Thats".

Had a look in the instructions and it diesn't even say what the optional ones are for(version wise). I might have a go at scratch building some, if I can't get any made, if I have some right thickness styrene card, and suitable pointy bits, I should be able to make some.
