The pilot must have had great fun trying to read the instruments given where the panel is fitted. Surely the vibration would have been ridiculous ?

Exactly!

And the 2nd panel, the one that's lost, was a smaller, rectangular panel that was between the panel I have got and the pilot! No idea how that was supposed to work. :(

Got the canopy and the wings on now.

All the books that mention the He-119 comment on how long and slim and streamlined it was, and looking at it side view you can't help but agree.

But from any other view, even a small amount off the direct side view, it's a short, fat podgy thing!

The wing joints, top and bottom, are ATROCIOUS! Huge gaps everywhere and lots of filing and PSR will be called for I'm sure.

And even the thickness of the wings are different, side to side. One's too thick, and one's too thin, but both have very thick trailing edges that will need lots of filing to clean up.

Right then, out with the heavy duty file and the 150 grit wet-and-dry I guess.

Thanks for those warnings, I was planning on buying one.

I managed to get it looking something like, took a bit of work but they are the only styrene  kit out there, so worth a do, if you really want one.

A real off-the-wall suggestion here:-  Have you considered the possibilities of longer wings?

I've got to give Kit and everyone else who builds this kit massive kudos for their dew diligence..im a nutta but hell even I would have second thoughts 😅

This build is like a good horror movie. I'm both enjoying your progress and horrified at the kit parts. At least it isn't a Mach2 kit.

What a SILLY idea! Who'd ever want to do anything as stupid as that?  :o  :o

Originally I wanted to build it essentially OOB as another 'RAF capture' as explained in the OP, but it looks so very stumpy as it is, I may WELL extend the wings and call it the V10.

You can see the He 111 in its lineage, that's for sure.

Do you know why they are called "Mach2" ? It was the speed they approached as you threw them at a wall when your patience finally snapped

Having said that they always attended SMW at Telford until Brexit/Covid  . I can't remember seeing them the last couple of years, but then I wasn't looking.

For propaganda purposes they actually called it the He-111U as well!

Dunno of that was for 'Ultimate', 'Useless' or 'Ugly' though...............  ;D

No sooner the word, than the wing extension!  ;D

How's this look then?

I think it's MILES better, but then I would, wouldn't I?

The extensions are the wings of the cheap F-94C I got last Saturday, mainly because they're the ONLY wings I've got with me at the moment, but they do fit the shape rather well as it happens.

The title's already been changed to 'He-119 V10' and I've got the back story sorted in my head already.

And even better with both wings extended.
