I'm thinking YELLOW for my Corvette. It looks pretty. Everyone else will do red or silver or blue. Black would be OK with a red trim interior but a tad dark.

As it's a red plastic kit I'm going to use white primer and hope that if the red does come through it'll just mean a deeper yellow overall.

I did have a can of yellow that I used for a Sea King years ago but that was Humbrol and very thick. Not sure I still have it!
It might be the wrong shade too. So I'm looking to use a Tamiya spray, possibly TS-16 if I can find it in a shop.

Clear with a touch of black in it will tone down the chrome engine parts nicely.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I need a break from it all. Not in the mood for anything work or model related or family stuff.

So I'm off to the Lakes tomorrow for the week. My plan includes getting out in the fresh air, finishing my Wainwright round (212 of 214 hills climbed so far), climbing some more hills, having nice pub meals
general pottering around, exploring the local villages and doing things in my own time.

I want to visit Barrow but it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays  :-X  ;D  A boat ride out to Piel Island for a pint is on the cards.

Send me the details so I can catch up with you! Sounds like a great time, have fun!

Have a good one Nick, hope the weather's decent....well what counts for decent in Cumbria anyways  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Stay safe and happy rambling.

The only thing I've painted lately are the covers for the garden umbrella sockets. These things if you were wondering - https://www.diy.com/departments/kct-32-40mm-rotary-airer-ground-spike-kit/5060855632356_BQ.prd

Now that autumn is upon us (it's pouring down here!) the umbrella and rotary washing line go back in the shed. This leaves a pair of holes in the lawn. These are very very hard to find in the summer even after I cut the grass so the lids for them have been spraypainted in a high visibility scheme.

RAF Gloss Yellow as seen on the SAR Sea Kings   ;D

It's the Brampton show on Sunday so I have to finish the SAAF Hunter and another by Saturday night.

My stepfather always got me to put the contents of a growbag on top of the lawn after the last cut in readiness for the winter. It took a few bags and a rake but in the spring they got a lushes green lawn. Living very close to the Guinness Brewery in Park Royal Northwest London my stepfather could get hold of the hops which was great for the garden especially after the rain drunken cats are really funny!

Got going again on the SAAF Hunter. It's not too bad paintwise but I have a large yellow overspray on the underside which will need touching up. Thankfully the cockpit is all black but the ejector seat (which is very nice) will take a bit longer for the detail on the straps.

Not looking forward to the canopy framing which I need time to work on.

I do need to get the payload sorted out. I'm going with the mix of large fuel tanks and SNEB rockets - unless somebody knows better?

Had a good day out at St Ives aka Brampton Show yesterday. The Hunter was OK for display after a late night finishing session. The original plan was to do it on Saturday but life got in the way. By life, I mean a trip to London to see Back To The Future musical at the Adelphi  ;D
It's a very good show with great special effects. You'll believe a car can fly when you see the ending!

Me, my sister and my brother in law took my niece to celebrate her becoming a student at East 15 Acting School where she will learn to become a Stage Manager.
This was followed up with a tasty meal at Wagamama's. Had a Green Samurai - Asahi beer with Midori melon liqueur and yuzu (sweet and sour flavours)- drinkable but I won't be having another. I kept offering to pay for things but my brother in law insisted I didn't have to.

Apparently I should see it as a down payment for helping my niece if she needs any help with her student house or lifts to places etc because she's only down the road from us while he's 250 miles away...  ;)  ;D

Models:
Hunter canopy is on and painted - front half needed a little cutting of the surround to fit but it's good.
SAAF 1960s decals are on - Springbok in Castle, very snazzy. Need to find the main Hunter sheet for all the small details like ejector seats etc.
Weapons and fuel tanks to be added.

Fouga Magister - part built, could be SAAF or real world Belgium.
F-16 - Ukraine camo scheme.

I've been working on another Hunter. This is the cheap Mistercraft Hunter Mk.58 (originally from Plastyk in Poland) and it is not great.
Very soft plastic, basic detail and panel lines, decals are usable but almost toylike. Instructions are pretty good though

At the last show I got a set of decals for the Papyrus display scheme which will go on this Hunter.

The grand idea is to have this in flight so I've done it with wheel bays closed. I intend to mount it on a metal drinking straw by drilling out the engine exhaust and using white glue to hold in place for the show. The lower part of the straw will be set inside a coffee mug using bathroom sealant.

I did consider using a flat tile and drilling out the centre but I'm not sure it would be deep enough to hold the straw even with gorilla glue.

What do you think?

Is it going to be on an angle?  Or vertical?  A thought would be to support the inside, and more likely acute angle with a a piece of clear plastic cut to 30/45/60 degrees supporting the straw on the tile

Isn't the Mistercraft Hunter 'inspired' by the old FROG FGA.9?
