We should have an M113 GB.  Build whatever you like based on one (or more).
I'm adding it to my list of suggestions.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Quote from: kerick on September 27, 2024, 04:24:36 AMI've got a number of pics of the Alabama Slammer. I have the parts too. One of these days I might build it.
Dude ya gotta build it  ;D
I'm also having ideas what to do with the HEMTT and at the mo M113s are quite possibly going to make an appearance 🤔 😳 😅

On a HEMTT you could put two M113 end to end.
Ken ..shut up !!! Your reading far to much of my mind dude   ;D

Ummm yeah..pretty much exactly that
Once I get wheels that is  :banghead:

You'll need that MIG welder!
Oh I've got that matey 😉 😏
I'll need to get alloy rods tho cause the stainless steel ones I've got are great for armoured steel but not so good for alloys  ;D

Not the steel but to butt weld the two M113s together. After you cut the a$$ ends off square!
Ahhh see there's the thing ..im gonna cut the arse off one ..the nose of the other and weld em together...not sure if ya know mate M113s are made of aluminum..that's why they melt when the really burn .

And the RPGs punch right through.

Hmm, got me thinking...
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

An Amerincan version of an FV432, or the FV432 is a British version of the M113, sort of chicken and egg thing as far as I know which is not much.

I've only got one kit unless I trash the Tamiya one I built many years ago. Probably won't. I'm trying to decide on a winter project. It might be the Alabama Slammer or my transport version of the Bradley based on the Academy kits I have that were robbed of their turrets. I started thinking about this after I read the book Thunder Run. At least the US Army is catching up with my idea.

The progression as far as the US "box on wheels" is concerned is:

M75, specification issued 9/1945, International Harvester selected to develop and produce the vehicle, production starts
in 1952.

M59, development starts late 1951, FMC is
selected in 1953 to develop and produce, production and entry into service in 1954.
Lower profile than M75, amphibious and
cheaper.

M113, development starts late-50s, FMC
T113E1 prototype ordered into production
in 1960 as M113, enters service the same
year.

As a GB goes this is a pretty good idea for one ..there's a huge amount of variants and I know us guys could come up with quite a few more . ;D
Having a good reason to hack one up will make me feel better about bring stuck in the back of the fecking things

The US was ahead in APC development, although the timeline is similar.  Experiments with a high sided version of the Oxford carrier in 45/46.  FV401 had folding armour screens with the FV402 command post being enclosed, development was convoluted, first trialed in 52 (it's intended service intro) and being cancelled in 56. FV421 armoured load carrier was trialed in late 50s, which led to the FV430 series. The FV431 was an outgrowth of the previous machine, but didn't enter service. The FV432 was an urgent requirement and happened quickly, the requirement being issued in Jan 62, final acceptance of the proposal in July of the same year with introduction to service next year.  The existence of the FV421 and 431 helped accelerate its development.

The Wooksta!

Can someone check with the Revell dudes at Telford to see if the Bv 222 due for release does indeed have the Jumo 205s as shown in the catalogue?  The breakdown of the older kit does allow for a new drop in front section with different engines.
Which is nice.

I think it was the M59 which had two engines each one mounted over a track. Kind of weird way to do it.
